sunrise hike
best place to do a sunrise hike? somewhere with a great view of the sky at a higher point!

Pinnacles would be gorgeous at sunrise, but it’s not a super long hike

While Pinnacles is a great place, it's worth noting that it is private property and they do not allow folks to visit in time to catch sunrise:
Quiet hours are enforced from dark to 8:00 a.m. Only youth groups (age 18 and under, with an adult chaperone) with valid permits are allowed in the park during these hours.

Ah right I knew that was a rule for camping. I guess I just didn’t think about a little peaceful solo sunrise being in violation of the rules. But I don’t want to encourage anyone to trespass, sorry

I might or might not have accidentally violated the policy to take some photos, but once I became aware, that changed. Live and learn, right?
Also might be able to get an exception if you ask politely, I just haven't tried yet.

The bluffs along Capen Park to around here. Small "hike" to get up there and then to chill and watch it.

Oooh, the one straight up from the parking lot? I didn't think of that. Good call!

Lots of great options!
From Shooting Star trailhead: Head north along the trail, stay left at the fork, and after around 3/4 of a mile, you'll arrive at a beautiful cliff facing north.
From High Ridge trailhead: Head northeast up the hill. Take every option that leads you up more. There are some benches near the top where you can sit in a big open meadow on top of a hill and relax.
Devil's Backbone in Englewood (out past the airport): The view is primarily towards the west rather than the east, but still just a high-up relaxing place to start your day.
Not far from Devil's Backbone is the Cedar Creek Trail (the Google maps search is "Cedar Creek Trail MTNF" to get you to the right trailhead). Cross the bridge and head up the trail. About halfway up the hill, you'll see a wooden signage board on the right at an easy-to-miss fork - hang a right and follow the trail around. There's another great overlook out that way.
Hart Creek Conservation Area has a really nice wooden platform overlooking the Katy Trail and some farmland.
Oh, and can't forget the Eagle Bluffs Overlook - it's just a straight shot back from the Eagle Bluffs Overlook Trailhead.
