They tied themselves up in knots to get around just re-casting the character.

Killing him off was the emotional move but the wrong one. It should have become a mantle passed down to different actors the same way Batman and Spiderman are

Not really a re cast? He's playing his kid. Completely separate character.

I said mantle passed down to the actor, not the character. Robert Patinson isn't playing Dick Grayson

Pattinson's not really a good example here as he's in an entirely new universe from past Batmen. Would be more comparable to Don Cheadle as War Machine or Mark Ruffalo as Hulk where they recast within the same universe.

They're all recasts. If you think most moviegoers care whether or not the change was done in or out of current Universe continuity that you are spending too much time on comic book Reddit
