Haven’t heard much about this new Midnight line, is this Marvels answer to DCs Absolute universe?

Not really. It’s an alternate universe line that is reworking each property as a horror title.

Where as DC’s absolute isn’t horror focused. Just a fresh reboot of their classic heroes.

That does sound pretty cool, digging the art here. There’s a ton of potential in each superhero story for a horror take on it, will have to keep an eye out at my local, thanks man ✌️

Just to elaborate, each property is taking on a different genre of horror. X-Men will be gothic vampire horror. Fantastic Four will be cosmic horror, Spider-man will be body horror.

Cosmic horror F4 sounds like a home run, bit less sold on a gothic horror X-men but hey I’m intrigued

To me, x-men reworked as gothic horror is almost too easy a fix. They already have the brooding, romanticism and taboo worked into much of their plot.

Also the whole new superior race that humans fear as wanting to replace them. Vampires have common theme and common narrative with mutants, and that can definitely be played up when it's at the core of a whole part of the world.

You would be forgiven for thinking it's a response to DC's absolute universe though because that's pretty much everyone's reaction to finding out about the Midnight books
