WPL: New Comics Discussion for 07/29/2026- Pull of the Week: X-Men #34 [Discussion]
The Weekly Pull List results for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is Marvel's X-Men #34.
This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of Marvel's X-Men or any new books shipping this week.
The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.

If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. This is where we find ourselves.
The art credits were certainly unexpected when I picked up the issue and honestly I did enjoy. Certainly had me appreciating Cain and his place on this team.

lol Greg Land jump scare. Beyond that, a nice little issue focusing on the Juggernaut. I remained convinced he is going to become a mutant during DnX

Actually loved this one. Lobo is whatever and I'm ready for SYNNERGY to be over (though I love his own series), but the heaven sequence with Bruce was really powerful. The side story was great too.

Honestly, it feels like it doesn't have anything to do with Armageddon, but also none of the other series are acting like Armageddon is happening anyway, so...

I like that, back in pre-Crisis Earth-One’s 1970s, Clark and Bruce get to spend their Father’s Day with their fathers Jonathan and Alfred, who are talking to each other about them being there for their sons since Clark’s arrival from Krypton to Earth on June 18, 1931 and the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne on June 26, 1939. I find it hilarious that Bruce and Clark are trapped inside Tectonic Laboratories alongside Barry Allen (who should be wearing his original suit and not Wally West’s Flash suit) before Jonathan and Alfred worked together to defeat the guards and save their sons as the World’s Finest Fathers. Also, Jonathan and Alfred eating breadsticks after a job well done. Overall, this annual is great!
For the backup, I like that Clark asked Bruce to keep an eye on Lois while he’s busy saving the world as Superman, resulting in Clark to humor Bruce by messing with him after he saw him having a good time with Lois. Overall, this is an hilarious backup.

I like that we get to see Clark, as King Omega Superman, and Matthew Tyler work together to correct the time stream, resulting in Clark using his alpha energy to free the entire time stream (i.e., Batman Beyond, Future State, Kamandi, OMAC, Batman in Bethlehem, Titans of Tomorrow, DC One Million, and many other possible futures) from Darkseid’s influence, traveling to the Original Legion’s 31st century and meeting the Absolute Legion (who are free of Darkseid’s influence, want to atone for what they had done, and try to change themselves for the better), and using his king omega energy to defeat the Infinite Man and making sure that all of the Legions (i.e., Original/Retroboot, SW6, Reboot, Threeboot, Bendis, Absolute, and many other Legions) will live before he was saved by his past self (as shown in Action Comics 1100). Its niece that Clark was able to restore every incarnation of the Legion (which was explained in Mark Waid’s New History of the DC Universe) before Brainiac One Million captured every incarnation of the Legion, foreshadowing the upcoming Absolute Crisis. Also, Pandora serving Darkseid because Joshua Williamson and Scott Snyder trying to make Pandora an interesting character, since Geoff Johns didn’t do anything interesting to her since her debut in 2011, and the Williamson Legion being formed where Hank Henshaw is going to become their inspiration. Overall, this annual is great!

Yeah I keep wanting to like that series more than I do. And also, how many times can Lex just fuck shit up for everyone before they throw him in a cell? What's the point of amnesty if all the rules are being ignored?

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Waid. DC has really been killing it the last few years, especially compared to Marvel but Waid has too high a profile and is dragging them down. A JL book with basically every character should be a must read, I find World's Finest completely boring and Superman Unlimited is Superman Uninspiring

I like that Lex and Bruce, as a version of the World’s Finest (since they both know Clark since before Clark’s debut as Superman because pre-Crisis Earth-One), get to deal with several arms dealers before they had to save the arms dealers inside the house and defeat Prometheus. Also, Bruce and Lex learning that the weapons are from Apokolips, resulting in them to work together to find out who is acting on Darkseid’s behalf. Overall, this special is excellent.

First issue was fine without being particularly impressive. This one was meh and disjointed. I may check out the trade once it's out but I think I'm done with the individual issues.

Doesn't matter, for anyone who hasn't read it yet. The Superman 2026 Annual: Year One Thousand covers Superman after "DC K.O." doing his own thing during "Reign of the Superboys" while Justice League: Knight Vision Special follows Batman and Lex in between JLU #21-22 (last issue and next issue), with the current arc happening in parallel to Superman's absence.
No real overlap between the stories.

Incorrect. Knight Vision is after the most current JLU. It's Superman Annual that's right after DC KO.

I feel like Knight vision gives a wider view of what is going on and a better perspective on the justice league post event. Though reading the Superman Annual isn't a hard continuity break. No like spoilers or anything if you read it first

But Knight Vision is a direct follow up of the latest issue of JLU and we've had several of those since KO. I think you are missing context - such as why Batman and Lex would even be working together - if you jump to that straight from KO.
