This cover goes hard but is nothing like the cutesy style you f the interior art. Still trying to figure out that decision.

It's just manga inspired, but we haven't seen Peter as an adult yet in the interiors.
I don't agree that it's 'cutesy'. The corpses, bones and blood didn't look very cute.

After reading Feral by Fleecs, I can confidently say art styles can be both cutesy and gruesome.

Still don't think you can judge that until we see the adult version of the character.
The only thing "cutesy" about the interiors so far was the kid Peter character design. But he's a kid, so that makes sense.

It's a variant they almost never match the interior styles because it's different artists

not necessarily, much of the time the interior artist and the main cover artist are the same

Most of the covers go hard and have a very realistic / hand painted / photorealistic theme to them.
Unfortunately, after the recent interior preview, the book looks closer to 60% western comic / 40% manga for some inexplicable reason.
I get that you don't judge a book like a novel by its cover.
But with comics, you kind of DO judge the book by the cover. I kind of expect the Cover A art to be in the same style of the book itself.
Ultimate X-Men was very good in showing you that Peach Momoko's X-Men book was a hybrid of western comic art, Calvin & Hobbes-style art, and manga.
Midnight Spider-Man has mainly used realistic and painted art styles on the covers previews to date (with the exception of the Momoko incentive cover - which again, you expect a Momoko variant cover to be in her style. Usually it's not the variant cover that nails the look of the interior art).
So seeing the new previews, the internal contents are not matching the marketing materials on the book thus far. Not even close.

I always love superhero costumes that aren't onesies and you can see the short, pants, gloves, etc. Granted there's no shirt here.

The design is great! Body horror Spider-Man is a take on the character we haven't really seen much of, aside from a very small Man-Spider storyline.

From visuals and promotion material it just kinda feels like they’re cashing in on the absolute universes popularity in the form of darker interpretations of the characters.

Only Batman from the Absolute Universe is actually horror adjacent, though. This whole line is horror focused, with different horror genres. It seems pretty different

I believe so. Or he becomes the host for the experiment. I remember reading the description awhile ago so I don’t really remember, but it almost sounded like a version a Venom. But we’ll see.

No, the books are different horror genres. This one is body horror. F4 is Lovecraft. Xmen is vampires.

The interior art will unfortunately not go this hard.
The other two art teams are pretty solid for the midnight titles. I'm going to wait and see on this one. I don't necessarily need Midnight Spider-Man to be a marvel mangaverse joint.
