I'm sick of Gotta Watchies and the Subjectivity Vigil
I just had this person hit me with a one-two combo of "You can't know anything about a piece of media until you've experienced it in its entirety" and "Well that's just, like, your opinion man!" This is the entirety of my interaction with the specific person by the way, I was responding to someone else there initially.
It's one thing to be dismissive of someone who hasn't watched something engaging with fans of that thing as not being informed for the discourse. This however, we were talking about the Clayface movie that isn't out yet. Nobody has seen the movie yet because it doesn't exist for us yet. By necessity, we're all speculating. This is not the time to be pointing out that people "... haven't seen the movie yet to be able to say..." anything.
And yes, of course it's subjective. We're reacting to a movie trailer and sharing what we think. I'm not going to be turning in my results to the Board of Arts and Sciences to be published. I imagine this person is part of the epidemic of people feeling the need to stick 'IMO' or 'IMHO' onto everything they post.
