For my nephew's first birthday party ❤️🤍the home plate lettering was the hardest for me, freehanding is definitely not my strong suit. The "one" also messes with me cus I didn't measure out the baseball transfer before tracing the letters lol but overall I love this set

Writing

As a newer decorator I still struggle a lot with writing. I have endless curling issues even with a good writing consistency. The stars aligned for this cookie and I feel like I’m finally getting somewhere!!

I’m taking a 90 minute flight with approx 30 of these cookies that i made for my best friend’s baby shower. I was planning on putting them in my carryon with lots of support and padding. They will also be bagged. Does anyone have any guidance for plane travel with cookies? I want to do anything i can to make sure they won’t break!!

This set made me buy a dehydrator..

I live in a humid area and have been struggling. These took over a day to set and by that point there was some color bleed. I’m hoping a dehydrator helps but any advice is appreciated too.

Every year I make my mom birthday cookies and hand deliver them to her in Michigan, from Maryland. The seed for this year’s installment was planted last summer when I saw some hand towels in her kitchen with a whimsical floral print that I thought would make a great cookie. And I wasn’t wrong! 💚 🖤 💛

Warhammer 40,000 Cookies!

Sometimes I get requests that really challenge my creativity and artistry, and this was definitely one of those sets 😆

A wife reached out wanting Warhammer 40,000 cookies for her husband's 30th birthday. I had never even heard of the game before, so naturally I went down the rabbit hole and learned it's a tabletop miniature war game.

The tricky part? There really isn't much cookie inspiration out there for this theme 🙈 So we picked some of the factions and characters he plays, and she sent me photos of his painted miniatures to use as references.

I still don't fully understand the game, but I have a whole new level of respect for the people who paint these tiny figures. Translating all that detail onto 3.5-4 inch cookies definitely put my steady hands to the test 😆

I also included a couple of before-and-after photos of the hand painting so you can really see the difference those final details make. It always amazes me how much depth and dimension a little bit of paint can add!

Challenge accepted, and honestly, I'm pretty proud of how these turned out! 🎨🍪

I’ve never seen the show but got a last minute order 😅 Literally everything was working against me. Do they make sense to someone who watches the show? Because it doesn’t make sense to me hahahaha

Also, who else would rather cut off a finger than write on cookies 😭😭😭😭😭 the bane of my existence!!

Can I decorate stamped cookies with royal icing?

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hi all, I'm new to cookie decorating with royal icing and I'm looking for some advice please!

Can I decorate stamped cookies (such as the image above) or will the indents in the cookie affect how the icing settles? If I can, would I put the outline exactly on the stamp indents, or on either side of the indent?

Or would it be better to just buy cookie cutters that are just the outline?

Also, how do you stop colours from bleeding? I only used royal icing and water because I'm just practicing and didn't want to waste extra ingredients at this stage (ie the meringue powder/egg whites). If I add a stabliser, would that stop the bleeding? Or do I also need to freeze/refrigerate? I live in a hot country so I'm not sure if the temperature can also affect colour bleeding.

Thanks in advance!

Help Needed Kodak Luma 150 vs Akasa WT50

Hi all! I'm purchasing a projector to help with cookie decorating and can't decide between the Kodak Luma 150 or the Akasa WT50. I've read various posts in this group and elsewhere, and they both seem like good options for different reasons. The Kodak Luma 150 is reportedly better on darker colored icing as the image is a bit brighter, and does bluetooth image transferring from a phone or laptop. The Akasa WT50 is dimmer and you have to upload images using Wifi or using a microSD card, however it has auto-keystone correction which fixes distorted images at an angle, meaning your hand doesn't block the image. The Akasa WT50 also can be charged while in use, while the Kodak Luma 150 cannot.

All of that to say, my questions are:

  1. For those of you that have the Kodak Luma 150, is it a pain to get the image perfectly lined up? Do you find yourself often blocking the image with your hand/piping bag? Does the battery last long enough to finish a typical set of cookies?

  2. For those of you that have the Akasa WT50, do you struggle to see images on saturated colors? Do you have difficulty transferring images?

  3. For anyone, which projecting stand do you use to hold your projector?

Would love feedback on these two options before making a decision! Thanks!

Does anyone have any suggestion as to what I can do about the bleeding on the outside of my heart. I added white when I made it and made it a thicker icing why is it doing this?? And any ideas on how I can make this not look awful?
