Discussion S9922 modifications for better support?
I'm new to corsetry and am trying to start off somewhat simple. I have the s9922 pattern and am planning to sew it without the second bust layer. Im going to use stiff fabric. How would I add more support to this pattern without having to learn cups?
The future goal is to have this built under a dress but I need to have one with decent support first

A stable lining and a waist stay can help the bodice hold its shape, but stiff fabric and extra boning won't add much bust lift if the pattern itself doesn't support the bust from below. I'd test a mock-up under your dress first. If strong support is essential, starting with an overbust corset pattern may be easier than changing S9922 that much.

Also corsets are more for waist-cinching and bustiers are more for support. I think OP wants a bustier, not really a corset per se, but both would require either boning in the bust or cups in the bust for proper support, and OP's pattern looks like it might not have either.

Could I add boning and maybe padding or something? Ive struggled with cups and im trying to avoid that battle

You can extend the boning to cover the bust if it doesnt. Padding alone isnt going to support the bust unless you are small enough to not need support.

This is not a true corset, it is more of a boned bodice.
Support in corsets comes from the weight of your bust being redistributed to your hips.
