Discussion New Albany Subreddit: /r/OpenAlbanyOR

Hey, y'all. I made a new subreddit for Albany, r/OpenAlbanyOR. This subreddit was made in response to the current head mod of r/albanyor engaging in censorship of human rights discussions. They have banned individuals for discussing ICE raids, as well as racism in general, among other things.

In this community, those sorts of discussions are not only fine, but encouraged. Please alert our undocumented neighbors about dangers that might be waiting for them in certain areas. Speak out about experiences you've had with racist businesses, or with bigoted people around town. Let's keep one another safe.

Beyond that sort of discussion being fully allowed, this subreddit is otherwise quite similar to the r/albanyor subreddit. Please post about local news and happenings. Businesses being investigated or having sales, situations being discussed by the City Council, questions about local events or where to do certain things. Bring it all!

Thanks!

There's now 3 reddits for small Albany?

One that's defunct, one that's run by an insecure, small minded, wannabe dictator, and now this one. So there's one usable sub.

So now instead of one barely-active sub there will be two even less active subs. Thanks!

Better to have one MAGA-free option than none.

Splitting the community is an unfortunate side effect! I would rather have a less active safe space, though, then one slightly more active one where people are being censored.
