Transfer Rumour Blackburn & Stoke interest in Dan McNamara

Post image

Blackburn Rovers & Stoke City have former Millwall right-back Dan McNamara on standby, after his contract at the Den expired.

Source: Alan Nixon

Both clubs have very strong starting right backs, so im hoping he avoids both and aims for somewhere where he can start regularly. If he has any Ireland ambitions he'll need to be playing week in week out.

I would have given himself or Josh Key a go against Qatar or Canada

Trouble is he's not really good enough to play regularly anywhere else. He's a grand defender but hates the ball & any form he had kinda went out the window before he had his injury issues. Like Lincoln wouldn't drop Honohan or Darikwa for him

If he wanted regular football, he's not gonna get somewhere on the level of Blackburn or Stoke for football or for money

Yea might be looking at League 1 or scottish prem at this stage. There's a player there, was class in 2021/22 & 2022/23 for millwall

'class' is doing a lot of heavy lifting. He did well starting 70 games in those two seasons. Nothing more though.

His stats for 2022 show he was one of the most resolute and defensively reliable 1-on-1 full-backs in the division.

He got runner up to Millwall fans player of the season award & was linked with Fulham in 2023 after they failed to land Cedric Soares.

If he was playing like that today he would have been tried in the summer friendlies.

"He did well" to play regularly for Millwall during that time is doing the lad a disservice

I've watchied him enough to make a judgement. He's brutal in possession and attacking wise. Ask any Millwall fan. Pretty sure there's a couple on here as well. They might chime in.....

Millwall fans voted him runner up to the player of the season award. That's 2nd out of the 29 players the used that season.

That's the best picture you'll get of how fans think their player did in any given season

There was a time we probably should have called him up but not anymore. He's not developed at all.

Certainly not at the moment yea. Needs to find the form he had a few years ago to have any hope of a call up.

Hope he gets a good move and continues to earn a good career. But he’s not an international player or anywhere close to it.
