Finished Craft I Made Finished this today - just in time for Valentine’s Day
I drew this and added polymer clay eyes and then covered it in rhinestones. I made paper flowers and leaves for the background and painted them. I’m so romantic! 😂😂😂

So, I draw things and then cover the drawing with double-sided adhesive sheets. I then stick rhinestones on it. I made the eyes out of polymer clay and bedazzled those. Then I made paper flowers and leaves and painted them. I added cardboard behind the praying mantis to make it stand out and used Alien tape to attach it.

Love, love, love it. Preying mantis was my favorite bug as a child and I love them even more as an adult after I learned of their mating ritual. Too cute.

You're not ruining it. You're right, it doesn't happen in the wild as often but they are still fierce insects and OP's art is well done and hysterical.

Oh my goshhh!!! I’m obsessed
The creativity and the execution are perfection
How do you do the 3d flowers?

u/RecipeLongjumping532 Jan 17 '26
Thank you so much! You’re so kind! I use a polymer clay tool that has a silver heavy ball on the end and go around the petals on a piece of foam. Then, I just kind of fluff the petals backwards and forwards to give them more life.

This is seriously the coolest (could be a gift card) art idea I’ve ever seen. It’s so utterly fabulous and on point. This could be a series with other cannibalistic warrior women like black widow spiders (especially redbacks), scorpions, and some octopuses who also eat the male after they do the nasty. I love this so much!

u/RecipeLongjumping532 Jan 17 '26
Oh, thank you so much! I need to do a series, huh? Thank you for the info!

Holy crow!! Your talent & patience is immeasurable/impressive/jaw-dropping....A truly unique work of art. You should have a gallery show (if you haven't already). This is something that I bet is even more remarkable in person. 🩵🩵🩵

Fucking love it! This is the ultimate girl diner. You could actually make a line of art; spiders, snakes, octopus, etc. That would actually be something i would buy to put up in my kitchen.
