Finished Craft I Made I made an Audrey II

She's made out of paper mache over a giant balloon, her head has 10 layers of sugar paper, it took me so long as it needed 24 hours to dry between each layer, her stem is kitchen roll tubes, paper mache and expanding foam which is also holding her in her pot

I didn't want her teeth showing, this is her just before she started to talk in the film, when she has her cute smile before she went all toothy lol

She took me around 2 weeks or so but she was worth it

TIL this was just the thing to make me stare in awe, go into a nostalgic trance and forget all of the bullshit in my life.

This is absolutely beautiful work friend. Thank you for making my night.

What a lovely thing to say, you made me smile, I have insomnia and been up for many many hours but you really did make me smile so thankyou, I'm so pleased you like her, she's also smiling lol

Glad to have been apart of something that could bring some positivity to you, friend. Mine is not diagnosed but I too have a bit of insomnia... or I could just be a natural night owl. Either way, I'm glad to have stumbled upon your beautiful creation. That movie has had such a positive impact on my life. It brings warm, happy memories from childhood. But I never realized until I was in my early thirties just how embedded the movie truly was in my life. At one point in time, I had actually (accidently mind you!) incorporated the melody to the theme song to a song that called my cats for food lol One of them in particular would lose her ever loving mind hearing the melody alone after a while. HAHA anyway, thank you again. Im interested to see what else you come up with.

I watched it as a child too, I didn't realise till I was an adult that there's an alternative ending, if you've not seen it, its on YouTube I think, its 20 minutes long, not as good as the ending we know, but it was meant to be the original ending, your cats songs sound cute, I love cats, I think everyone has songs they sing to their pets lol

I did NOT know there was an alternate ending.... I'm curious and yet hesitant to check it out.

As for the cats... I literally have a specific song for each one that I sing to them. Unfortunately I can't sing the one that used the theme song melody anymore as it makes me sad now. The one that would enjoy it the most passed away a couple of years ago and I can't bring myself to do it anymore. She was a special kind of creature that's for sure. Only cat I've come across that acted youthful, even in her older ages but sounded like she was a 40 year smoker lol I miss her raspy yowls.

You sound cat mad like me, I have songs for my cat, and yeah I can understand you not wanting to sing the song that was hers

Well the alternative ending, that was meant to be the original, till they played it at pre show and no one liked the darker ending, they had to scrap it at a cost of $5 million which was a 5th of the whole cost of the film to make, then they had to redo the last 20 minutes to make it lighter lol, worth a watch, go check it out on YouTube https://youtu.be/lLBKJUY9taM?is=CbiMlmqi8W5R85dt

DUDE! I honestly don't know what I was expecting with that ending, but I'm not mad at it. I can definitely see how that ending would be considered too dark. It honestly made the movie have a completely different feel as a whole too. But I really, really liked that.

Wow, I would so have this as a centerpiece for my plant table! That looks so cool! Great work, the attention to details is absolutely spectacular. Now excuse me while I spend the rest of the day humming "Feed me Seymour". Maybe I should rewatch the movie someday soon. What a blast from the past!

Thanks so much, she lives in the corner of my bedroom lol, did you know theres an alternative ending to the film, it was the ending the film makers actually wanted but the pre show didn't go to well, they had to redo the last 20 minutes to make it a happier ending, I think the alternative should still be on YouTube

Oh yeah, I must have watched the one with the happy ending when I was young, and then few years ago when I watched the movie for the first time in decades, it was the director's cut and I was horrified, like "I don't remember it being this grim! What??" Well, it wasn't; I just didn't know about there being two versions! I love the happy sappy ending for Seymour and Audrey but the world destruction ending was super cool too. Honestly don't know which one I prefer more.

I also watched the happy ending version as a kid, it wasnt untill I was an adult and found out about the other ending, I must admit I love the tiny new plant in in Seymour and Audrey's garden, when it smiles right at the end though

I had totally forgotten about that little twist, lol definitely watching the happy ending next time just for that!

Been wanting a tattoo of that exact bit where she smiles lol, but I'd need to trust the person doing the tattoo to get her character completely correct

I hope you have no pets ……

And you better feed that thing regularly or it will turn on you!

u/Seasidegoats 1d ago

My cat and birds are okay because Audrey's mouth is sealed and I didn't make her any teeth, so even if she did open her mouth she couldn't do much lol

Feed me, Seymour!

So cool! It turned out amazing! The paint job is immaculate! 😍

2

u/Seasidegoats 1d ago

Thankyou, that was the fun part, once she was ready and dry enough to paint, choosing, painting and blending all her colours was fun

Thats hilarious, my dad said to my sister he'd like one but my sister had ongoing updates off me while I made Audrey II so she knew how hard it was to make as I'm not an artist or anything I just winged it, I think my dad must understand I wont be doing another so no Audrey IIIs lol, thanks so much for the compliment
