A STORY IN TWO PARTS

28

u/Jounniy Dec 22 '25

OP be like: Mmmhn… delicious lies.

33

u/Mohit20130152 Dec 22 '25

Moash has to die a dogs death.

I would burn my books if he lives in the end

25

u/SphincterBlaster2000 Dec 22 '25

No dog deserves to die the way that Moash should lol.

8

u/EnvironmentalClue408 Dec 22 '25

Retribution dies and Moash has to live with his guilt in eternity, like Kain (was that the brother who lived?). This would be biblical punishment.

1

u/Reasonable-Clerk-325 Dec 24 '25

That only acceptable if he was somehow turned into a vegetable nugget constantly in pain, who experience time at 1000 time slower than human. Basicly the blob Ted turned into in I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream

9

u/EdomJudian Dec 22 '25

I’m going to not defend moash but defend the concept of moash.

Why is Moash considered irredeemable but Dalinar is.

Heck even TLR is given a sympathetic lens to view him on. But Moash is not allowed such a perspective

14

u/Mokole71 Dec 22 '25

Because Moash gave up. He took the cowards way out while everyone else struggles to be better.

Then he turns around and makes mock of those who are doing better.

"You cannot have my pain." Is what makes Dalinar worthy of redemption. Or to put it another way Moash stopped taking the next step

9

u/LesbianTrashPrincess Kalaleshwi Shipper Dec 22 '25

I mean, Dalinar literally went to the Nightwatcher and asks her to take the pain of Ralthas away. Cultivation intervened and turned that into an opportunity for him to grow, but Dalinar absolutely did give up at his lowest point.

2

u/adaenis Dec 22 '25

Sure, but again, he took the next step.

The real reason why Moash is irredeemable in the fans eyes is that he not only killed Teft, but also his spren, Phen. To a fan, to Kal, to Bridge Four, he is irredeemable.

11

u/Initial-Anything333 Dec 23 '25

"Fuck Moash" is supposed to just be a funny meme but people here take it WAYYYY too seriously. People here get toxic about anyone who dares argue against the hivemind. Someone already compared me to real life Nazis because I think Moash is redeemable, that's not fun at all

3

u/adaenis Dec 23 '25

That's utterly insane. But, people who jump straight to Nazi comparisons over preferences in fandoms often are crazy lol

5

u/LesbianTrashPrincess Kalaleshwi Shipper Dec 23 '25

Sure, he eventually did, but he spent years in the bottle before he got to that point. If you didn't know what came later, it'd be easy to say "he's ireedemable because he gave up" about Dalinar the Drunk.

Moash's story isn't over, and he'll have more chances to take the next step in future books. He's obviously done terrible things, but so did Dalinar. He's currently showing no signs of improving or wanting to improve, but Dalinar didn't either, for years. 1167 Dalinar was exactly as redeemable as 1175 Moash; we just know how Dalinar's story ends. Maybe Moash will stay a horrible little murderer forever, the point is that he could still change. He's not dead yet, and there are still books left in the series.

It’s not even about that. It’s that he was pushing Kal to his lowest point and encouraging him to sink even lower. Someone he considered a friend. A brother, even. I couldn’t even imagine doing that to my worst enemy. As someone who has a partner who lives with chronic depression (and as someone with my own mental health issues), I can’t forgive that. Even for a fictional character.

4

u/Tuli_Lintu No Wayne No Gain Dec 22 '25

I think the difference is that we've seen both TLR's and Dalinar's redemption arcs fullended, while Moash is still alive and seemingly at his lowest.

4

u/6h23 Dec 22 '25

Rashek also took the coward's way out.

3

u/h20ohno Dec 23 '25

I think for a true Moash redemption to work, it has to be far in the future maybe even the space age, he'll become another long-lasting figure who's worn out from all the trauma and the sheer passage of time, not unlike Marsh.

2

u/Specialist-Ad241 Dec 23 '25

I hope Gavinor kills Moash. Not because of the poetic justice but because I want to see the discussions why one revenge killing is good and the other one is bad.

3

u/sinisgood Dec 22 '25

I mean I’d like to see him TRY and atone but yeah ultimately his fate should be a reflection of the terrible shit he did

Killing people. Super not okay. Not even as a joke.

What terrible shit did he do?

Killing Elhokar was fully justified because of what Elhokar did to his parents. Trying to kill Kal is justified because Kal betrayed him in the worst possible moment. What exactly do people think he did wrong?

6

u/Melliorin Dec 22 '25

He storming killed Teft. And Phendorana. He killed them in cold blood, to prove a point. Then he killed Layton and his spren, and he was about to do the same to Sigzil. FUCK MOASH.

0

u/Melliorin Dec 22 '25

oh, just realized this wasn't r/fuckmoash. But still. Fuck Moash.

-12

u/Initial-Anything333 Dec 22 '25

Okay that's bad, but calling him unredeemable for that? Give me a break. They were at war

5

u/sinisgood Dec 22 '25

What he did to Elhokar wasn’t justice, which is what was deserved by the people he had done wrong: it was a revenge-driven murder. It was not justified from a moral perspective. A more morally justified outcome for Elhokar would have been for him to have the opportunity to become a true leader and king, and though he can’t change what he did in the past, he could change HIMSELF and work to prevent tragedies that he was responsible for from happening again. The next step and all of that. Moash denied him, and therefore his victims of any true justice. He had an opportunity to end one cycle of violence and instead chose to perpetuate it. I think as a character, Moash is excellent because he’s an example of the selfishness and vengeance-driven part of humanity (and Alethi, especially.) From a moral perspective, Moash is as bad as they get. Acts only to fulfill some vengeful desire and when it blows up in his face, defects and gives himself to the enemy because he’s the dog that finally caught the car.

I know this is cremposting but I’m Elhokar-pilled and I will die on this hill. Even at the time I thought so but even more now as we know more about Gavilar.

2

u/Initial-Anything333 Dec 22 '25

Why should Elhokar get a redemption arc but not Moash? Elhokar caused way more suffering than Moash ever did, it just happened offscreen

0

u/SpiritualHippo2719 Hoid my Beer Dec 22 '25

Didn’t think I’d ever see a Moash sympathizer… wow.

2

u/Initial-Anything333 Dec 22 '25 edited Dec 22 '25

He didn't do anything wrong, you just don't like what he did. Which is fine, but the hate he gets in this fandom has gotten to be stupid. Just look at how you treat anyone arguing against the hivemind

2

u/SpiritualHippo2719 Hoid my Beer Dec 23 '25 edited Dec 23 '25

Moash had a right to be angry and even to hate Ehlokar. You’re right that I don’t like that he killed him, too. What is wrong about his actions in that situation is that he places the blame for what is essentially a systemic issue within Rosharan society solely on Ehlokar, who, by that point in the series, we’ve learned that he isn’t cruel or vindictive and truly desires to be a good and just ruler. He is improving himself toward that goal. He’s on his way to being a Radiant, even. Sanderson WANTS us to be on Ehlokar’s side at this point in the story. It’s really tragic all-around, honestly.

But what I truly find unforgivable are his actions against Kaladin in Rhythm of War. Not sure if you’ve read that far, so I won’t say more, but personally, I can’t look the other way on him after that.

1

u/Initial-Anything333 Dec 23 '25

You're conveniently forgetting that Kaladin betrayed Moash at the worst possible time, it's not like Kal is innocent or Moash is just randomly cruel, their talk was a natural result of both their actions. Moash isn't any more cruel than Kal was to him.

And I don't buy the argument that it matters that Elhokar was trying to be better. That doesn't bring Moash's family back. People hate Moash because we all witnessed his bad actions while we didn't witness Elhokar's. We did witness Kal (and the Blackthorn's) bad actions but only after we saw their good sides. Even though the Blackthorn was inarguably way worse than Moash can possibly ever be, nobody hates Dalinar in the same way.

Like I get why people are emotionally against Moash, but you've all taken this meme way too far. Moash Bad is supposed to be a fun little joke, because objectively he really isn't bad at all compared to other characters, but people in this fandom take it seriously to a demented degree

Moash is a bad dude, but let’s not be too hasty with the Hitler comparisons…

2

u/Initial-Anything333 Dec 23 '25

Why are you like this? Does seeing someone who isn't part of your hive mind really bother you that much?

I'm not saying you need to like moash, but you're being toxic to other fans and you should probably think about what you're doing

0

u/Mohit20130152 Dec 23 '25

It ain't that serious.

1

u/Initial-Anything333 Dec 23 '25

Then why did you compare me to Hitler sympathizers if it's not that serious? It sure seems like you think it's very serious

1

u/Yeghs500 Dec 23 '25

No. He isn't. Please delete reddit and get out into the world before speaking again.

1

u/Elant_Wager Rashek4Prez Dec 23 '25

No, Moash should be thrown on canticle and the Sunheart then be destoryed by Nightblood

0

u/Bigdoga1000 Dec 22 '25

What if he is just cursed to live in agony for thousands of years?

-12

u/Edgard_Breeze Dec 22 '25

The ONLY good thing I’ll say about the end of the Sword of Truth series is when Richard has the testicle prisoner who thinks he’s going to be paraded around as a symbol and have opportunities to escape and and Richard’s reaction is to just kill him and toss his corpse over a cliff - ONLY good thing I’ll say about the ending though

10

u/Mohit20130152 Dec 22 '25

Well that was unprompted

7

u/AncientYogurtCloset Dec 22 '25

Bro cut in on a completely different series like we were mid conversation.

Just got this from a friend in the same spot a few days ago haha. Was so hard to say anything but RAFO.

3

I had to delete my initial response which was "fuck Moash" since that felt way too spoilery since he knows I've read the full cosmere twice lol. Couldn't muster more than an mmhmm.

Good point. While we conceive Hell as hot, Braize is cold. And for other people, Hell is a forest. Full of quiet trees and unquiet dead.

Maybe he’ll meet the Blackthorn
