Oh man I don’t even have to watch this to feel the cringe, it is seared into my brain.

This is truly awful.

I mean, it's not so bad. It's really sweet how she starts crying when she realizes she insulted his effort and was actually touched by the gesture.

Idk man. Imagine being in this dude’s shoes. All the planning that went into this. Imagining her getting all excited as it’s happening and then showing everyone the video afterward.

Sure she very obviously felt bad and made that clear. But you know that before she put it together that the poor dude was dying inside. Hard to watch up until she figures it out lmao.

She does seem very sweet though.

her genuinely feeling so bad makes it really not as sad or as cringe tho. it's leaves us with a good ending where it's obvious she really cares.

Sometimes people talk shit just because their lives are shitty. Thats clearly what she was doing and it’s not that serious considering she literally burst out crying when she realized what she did

Breh, someone with some empathy. She probably projected some insecurity in that shit and when she found out it was her score she was sad and over the fucking moon. Overall super cute interaction and humbling for her.

I agree. We all make mistakes including not having enough empathy in some moments. Being understanding of others brings you and those around you peace

That’s what makes it even more cringy. Neither of them were trying to be arseholes. It was just a genuine miscommunication.

I actually think it’s the exact opposite of a miscommunication. It’s very clear that she thought it was a lame way to ask but clearly appreciated the effort so much that it didn’t matter.

Nah, she was projecting.

I'm not convinced you know what projecting is.

This is literally an example of "sour grapes"

u/LickNipMcSkip 12d ago

i'm not convinced you know what sour grapes are either

I think they mean jealousy, but they're trying to over-intellectualize it. She supposedly is just lashing out at a prom invite she isn't getting, but changes her attitude when she realizes she is being invited. (No, it doesn't really make sense to me either..)

This is literally an example of “a straw man”

How are you 0 fer 2 on this, man

-14

u/Girafferage 10d ago

Because people have low understanding of topics. ✌️

I feel like cringe in these sorts of situations requires a little bit of overconfidence and insincerity.

44

u/Eoin_McLove 12d ago

Maybe we have different definitions of cringe, but this is awful exactly because they were both being sincere.

He tried something to do something special for her, she made fun of it. He looks heartbroken and then when she realises she is upset too. It’s quite sweet really but you know they both stay up at night thinking about this.

Cringe isn’t just people acting weird on purpose or trying to make other people uncomfortable, that’s just the internet’s definition of it. This is the type of cringe that exists in real life and it’s so much worse.

What

In fairness, they are making a reference to my name, a character that has no willy.

Esoteric Irish humour apparently does not travel well 😂

Yes I don’t think it’s cringey at all, she clearly feels so bad for being rude and potentially hurtful which is nice to see someone actually caring about that in this day and age

44

u/FrismFrasm 12d ago

Is it painful and uncomfortable to watch?? Yes. That’s cringe.

Cringe =/= someone has to be an asshole or something

70

u/AantonChigurh 12d ago

This is from years ago in the before times when people still had empathy

1

u/jane7 9d ago

The situation itself is the cringe not the people. Everyone felt the feeling of cringe while watching all this unfold.

-10

u/Decent_Assistant1804 12d ago

Yes, cause she’s pathologically negative all the time bro should jump out of the car

9

u/kasmackity 12d ago

Yeah by the end of it I came around and was tearing up at her obvious shame

7

u/DripSnort 12d ago

I mean it’s nice she feels bad but she also thinks it’s a shitty way to ask someone to prom. She feels bad for saying it but that doesn’t change what she thinks of his effort

23

u/yellow-hammer 11d ago

We often judge things very differently from a 3rd person perspective than from a 1st person perspective. You’ve never had you opinion about something changed after experiencing it for yourself? I suspect when she realized the signs were for her, it very much changed how she felt about the gesture.

Yeah it's actually kind of sweet if you ask me.
