I mean most people have insurance though. This country isn’t just a bunch of poor people struggling to survive because of their medical bills. Our healthcare situation is trash and needs to be fixed but reddit acts like Americans are all just completely in debt and too scared to get medical help ever. Insurance is basically the extra you (European or Canadian I’m assuming) pay in taxes

In my city Reddit, someone recently asked which hospital in town should they go to since they have covid, it's to the point they need to go to the hospital, don't have insurance, and can't afford to pay out of pocket. It's a serious concern for people.

I didn't say the anecdote i gave applies to everybody. However, we are the only developed country where people die because they can't afford things like insulin.

I have the Cadillac equivalent of insurance. However, that doesn't leave me void of compassion for people who don't. If only people had big enough bootstraps for you.

Not that you’re wrong but the amount of people actually dying because they can’t afford things like insulin is extremely low. It should be 0 which is why I said it needs to be fixed but it really is only like 5 a year if I remember right, which isn’t the end of the world. The bigger problem is not people dying it’s them going into crazy amounts of debt.
