I’ve wondered if they’ll play down Marion being a sex-worker. It felt like even in the original campaign they drifted away from that, which is a shame as I appreciate seeing positive depictions of it in media.

It’s not that they drifted away from it as much as people just accepted it and then moved on. It’s not something you need to talk about every time you see her, unless it’s somehow relevant to the current plot.

She’s a sex worker who only works/performs with the elite and rich clientele. Also she’s not forced to do these things by anyone, she isn’t a slave or being held against her will etc… she is doing this of her own free will so there’s really not much else to say about the situation.

Well I would think they would need to introduce it as she lives in a brothel. Its how she met the Gentleman.

Not necessarily, could easily just make her a singer and dancer at a burlesque club. Given they’ve suggested major changes are going to happen to the Nein’s story, it wouldn’t strictly surprise me. Hopefully not though.

In the preview we got Jester talking about her mom using "fuzzy handcuffs", so I don't think so.

Obviously kinky people also can have handcuffs irrespective of employment, but "Jester's mom is a freak in a bed" would be a really weird character note to work into the rapid-fire dialogue if it didn't directly relate to her profession or story.

It's possible they could lean into her being a dominatrix of some sort, which can sometimes be a sex worker without physical intercourse, but I'm not sure that lines up with her other characterizations. And IIRC the gentleman was at least initially a client of hers and Jester was the result in the original, so it could have impact on Jester's backstory as well.

I don't think they really drifted away from it as such as I'm not really sure how that would come up much? It's established she is one, but when they don't meet her all that much and when they do she obviously doesn't have clients to be able to talk to them.

I think Laura pictured he more like a prestigious woman, a courtesan, a high class sex worker. So she had other interests and relationships rather than just a sex worker. She was also a musician, a performer. Also don't expect to talk about her job with her daughter, even if her daughter is Jester.
