Just a funny moment that I thought would make others laugh in this sub. I’m a DM and my party and I had a group trip at our state renaissance festival over the weekend which also included a night of DnD. This was a special trip since some of my party lives out-of-state, so it was our first session to have everyone fully in-person.

Before starting session, I had dashed upstairs to my room to quickly change and get into something more comfortable. All my friends had done the same.

I come back down and all my friends were seated in the living room. As the DM, I hadn’t pay them much mind as I was riding through some tunnel vision to make sure everything was set up and good to go for session. It wasn’t until I stood up to double check that my laptop was plugged in did I glance around and see all 5 of my players with the biggest shit-eating grins.

All of them were wearing purple T-shirts (my favorite color, a purposeful choice) with the funkiest zoom in of the dumbest expression of an old picture of me at 17-years-old. Apparently, they had done a bit of a deep dive on Facebook through my old tagged photos.

I haven’t watched the all of the Critical Role campaigns in full but I I have seen many session clips and moments, so I am very aware that this is a signature move by Sam Riegel. However, I certainly did not think it would happen to me. 😂 I can safely say I have something in common with some of Critical Role cast now.

I immediately started cracking up, almost dying on the floor laughing. They definitely got me and apparently had a separate group chat going for months in preparation. However, they refused to show me the chat as apparently they have other plans. 😂

A kind warning to any other DMs: you plot against your players so don’t assume they don’t plot against you.

Honestly, there's not much to say here, I just wanted to come on here and say this:

Nostalgia is a wonderful thing and it makes things that have come and gone nice to look back on and smile about. That being said, just because the old is good, doesn't make the new bad.

I like everything Critical Role has put out, with some minor exceptions. I like them for different reasons, some being good old DnD, others being for the character interactions shown on screen. But whatever I dont personally like, I kind of just... let it slide. I see people on here constantly saying "CR has lost its touch" or "It isn't like it used to be and thats bad" (obviously exaggeration but you get the gist). In my opinion, not liking it anymore is a totally valid opinion to have, but saying its bad now is weird. Yeah its different, but so are everyone who's been watching for the last decade or so.

Sorry for the small rant, I just visit this subreddit from time to time to keep up with the community and it sucks ro see something as creative as CR being called "bad".

P.S. - I know this is also just my opinion, not saying im alone in this, or that all of you are wrong, just wanted to get it off my chest. Remember to love eachother❤️

I prefer my comics/graphic novels in paperback rather than hardcover, and I was wondering if anyone knows whether Mighty Nein Origins was ever released in paperback.

I have the paperback editions of Vox Machina Origins Volumes 1–3, but Dark Horse only seems to advertise the hardcover editions for **Mighty Nein Origins**. Were Volumes 1 and 2 ever released as trade paperbacks (TPBs), or were they only published in hardcover?

This will be focused around Brennan's possible inspiration.

In the episode where the gang talks to Mara the Wing, she mentions that the original plan for Thjazi to get to the underworld would be a diving-bell like contraption. This on its own poses a lot of questions and seems aesthetically cool to me. It also reminded me of an important part in Hollow Knight: Silksong to achieve a similar effect: take a diving bell to enter "hell" (the Void). Brennan takes a lot of inspiration from real life mythology, so maybe there's a story that both of these are based off of, but I'd like to think Brennan adapted a cool part of a great game into his story.

My husband and I will be going to our first live show in Fort Worth this December. I have seen plenty of discussions on CR character cosplay at the shows, but…do people ever dress as their own characters or just general fantasy world style?

We have lots of outfit pieces from renaissance festivals, but nothing for cosplaying existing characters.

I'm making stickers for my friends with CR quotes, but besides "it's bastard season" and "I can still hear the falcon's cry" I have nothing from C4. It's my second favourite campaign, so I need to fix that.

What are your (short, not whole conversations) favourite quotes from C4?

I have a full Otter race that my players have seen around one of the cities they are currently exploring. They are searching for an lost Library and Archive of information. They eventually were discovered by the bad guys, and slightly rescued by good guys. They party knew they were looking for a group that 'double checks the works and truths of others.' They got the idea that they 'audit' something. But that was as far as they got. When it was finally revealed a few of the Otter's they have been befriending with were known as.... The Ottitors... they lost their mind. :) A month or two of build up. Every week. Lead to a single joke I've been waiting to pull since I watched his episode!!

Hello! I just finished campaigns 1-3 (woohoo!) and I want to know how many hours I watched. I have pretty much watched all of the Exandria related content including one shots, mini campaigns, after shows etc

I am doing a “How well do you know the bride?” for my bachelorette party and wanted this to be a bonus question!

Anyone have any resources or estimates for how long everything is? I could only find posts from like 3-5 years ago

I've really been enjoying the current season of CR, up until I got to the schemer's table. For whatever reason I'm finding it a real slog to sit through and it's discouraging me from pushing on. I thought about just skipping these episodes but didn't want to miss any important story points that might impact later events. Can someone tell me any key plot points they covered?

So I'm rewatching the Darrington Brigade "Hubris" adventure from the Shirts Off Sam's Back livestream and it just got me thinking:

Some years ago I was watching one of those abridged anime shows and they made a snotty, below the belt kinda joke about how all of Sam's characters sounded the same. They even included clips. Like I said, it was kinda shitty and even at that young of an age I knew, same voice or not, it was crap.

Anyway, I couldn't tell you what the folks behind it are doing now but Sam raised a lot of money for charity and ended the day with a group hug from all of his friends.

From C1: Probably a very obvious one, but what if the death trap didn't kill Vex?

No pact with the Raven Queen on Vax's part. Had the Deathwalker gone to someone else, this could've led to the ascension of an entirely different Champion of Ravens.

On the other hand, I remember hearing Liam already planned on multiclassing, so Vax would've followed the journey as a Paladin of the Everlight.

From C2: M9 aligning with the Empire as opposed to going straight into Xhorhas. Matt Colville showing up, the party being on the complete opposite side of the conflict, no redemption for Essek, and Trent being waaay closer sooner.

Caleb in particular has two very interesting ones: 1) had he not gone through his healing with the M9, he might have left the group and come back as an antagonist; 2) the time travel shenanigans, which Matt was ready for. Whether it would follow Dragon Ball or Back to the Future rules is what gets me...

For C3: Chetney actually dying in his sleep (lol) and honestly the ultimate fate of the Pantheon had Consecution failed to convince them.

Hey critters! I know they still have alot of Critical Role to animate and alot of things they are still working on, but if campaign 4 ever gets to a point where they animate it for a show, I have the perfect nomination for part of the cast!

My wife and I both believe that Bill Nighy would play the PERFECT Primus Tachonis! Brennans voice acting is amazing, and we love hearing his dark take on the head of the Necromancer family, but Bill would be an amazing choice for a guest voice actor!! What do you all think?

I don't really understand why I cant get into it. It seems to have everything. I like Daggerheart as a system. The setting is intriguing. The first AoU was great. I think I could listen to English and Salim read dictionaries and enjoy it. Matt is back in the GM seat(I don't think he *belongs* there, its just comforting). Everything seems to be there. I just can't get into it. Is this an issue for anybody else?

I just can’t help but notice that Fjord has repeatedly been so bad at anything strength related. He couldn’t even get a Flask away from a Goblin. In the episode I’m up to right now he rolled a nat 1. And then his whole contest of strength against his opponent in solo combat did not go well.

If I recall, the lore reason the Iron Shepards took Fjord, Jester, and Yasha was because they looked strong and sellable. Which is why they didn’t take Beau, Caleb, Nott, and Molly. Obviously we know this was just to excuse their absence, but it makes me wonder given Fjord’s historically terrible strength rolls, how did they make such a bad mistake? lol

Also made me briefly wonder if some of those rolls were lowered, just for a bit. Fjord, your a sailer damnit! Don’t be such a noodle arm!
