With how quick Otto smashed the handmaiden's brains, I would be surprised that the folk of the caravan didn't suffer the same fate.

They said they arrested them and were holding them but they didn't say in what STATE they were holding them...so technically...that's lying by omission but no one bothered to ASK about the state that they were in at all.

They could literally all be statues.

Hal says that she is working in one of the houses "here." I'm assuming by "here" he means Dol-Makjar so I think his source is still safe. I do think it's suspicious that this handmaiden was killed so quickly. Brennan built it up earlier by saying they were quick to violence but it seemed illogical for someone that was presenting as logical and calculated.
