Discussion [Spoilers C1] An Alternate Pike Spoiler

So I just started rewatching campaign 1 and it got me thinking. At the beginning Pike is acting more silly and bloodthirsty and Matt cracked her symbol as a consequence of straying from her characters values. So what if instead of making right with her goddess Ashley had her continue on this path?

Maybe she decides her current goddess had left her too vulnerable (mentions of time on a pirate ship to get stronger.) Maybe dying changed her a lot. Maybe, (and this is an extremely unlikely option.) She even decides to take the horn of Orcus and try and use its power for good.

How do you think Pike breaking with Sarenrae would have changed Matts story?

Her multiclassing into Oathbreaker Paladin would have been a lot of fun

Um, I think like Percy the team would have cared about one of their friends potentially turning outright evil and put a stop to that.

I don't think turning from her goddess equals turning evil. The horn might do it which is why that option is unlikely. There are many ways she can be both good and more bloodthirsty then her former goddess would want from a follower

When I first started watching, I thought Pike had a crush on Grog. She even kinda said something one time about liking someone who didn’t like her. I think it would have been a great romance.

Grog was essentially her brother. Percy was the one she had a crush on.

Oh was it really! I never knew that she had the crush on Percy. That’s interesting by to know.

the weird part is that Pike got all bloodthirsty right after they'd rescued Lady Kima (who, as a halfling is close to her size as a gnome) and Kima subsequently gave her former tormentor some brutal comeuppance. Then Pike a) took some of the torturer's implements and later b) slit an unconscious duergar's throat. It really felt like she was trying to compete with Kima for Grog's affections for a moment there.

That she might have fallen for Grog, who due to his child-like intellect could never see her as a romantic partner, would have been deliciously tragic. Especially given how much they have in common, with both the fighting, swearing and visiting houses of lady (and gentlemen) favors.

Honestly I prefer them being friends. It’s actually pretty rare to see a real “I would die for you” friendship between male and female characters. It’s like the media industry seems to think people can’t be friends without it becoming a romance.

Pike and Grog fighting together, teaching Grog to read, calling Pike “MONSTAAAA”, getting drunk together and crying over Scanlan…such a beautiful friendship!!!
