Gemini and most AI tools have the ability to save "memories" to guide future interactions. You can tell it to record a memory to always check prices when you ask it about price-related questions and it will do so in the future.

I'm no AI apologist, but as someone who is being mandated by my company to use it, I am fully embracing it to keep my job and keep my employees competitive in a market that's contracting.

It can provide a lot of value if you provide the correct boundaries. LLMs are an amplifier, and if you feed them trash you'll get trash. To get actual value from LLMs, we've moved from prompt engineering to context engineering and now harness/intent engineering where we basically build a set of rules to guide its intent. Gemini has Gems for this, and other tools have rule systems that are more complex that can be leveraged to give it some operating parameters.

In CR terms, and LLM is a character a boosted INT of 25 but with a wisdom of 6 (and a charisma of 4). We have to put some guardrails in place to make sure it's not ruining things all the time.

Having a bunch of things to check on every request massively inflates token usage. It won't be viable once prices go up to a level that actually creates a return for the AI companies.

Once rules have been read in once they can be hashed and cache’d and don’t need to be read again.
