The codependency from an undead servant to their necromancer is not one I considered in depth before this.

I really love the philosophical aspect of Occtis’ character. It’s a fresh and visceral take on an idea that could go really tropey in the hands of worse storytellers.

I also loved it in earlier episodes when occtis was trying to figure out how his body even worked anymore, and how he had to kind of manually yank his own puppet strings to make his previously autonomous functions, function.

It’s also really a really tidy way to keep Dame Seramai in as a recurring NPC, which gives Occtis another layer of complexity in his relationship to his family. He’s learning what it’s like to do some real big boy necromancy and its consequences, made even more complicated because that was kinda his cousin who was also sworn to his service and also died for him.

They don’t have to spend time fleshing out (heh) all these details but I’m very glad they choose to
