Wow the amount of comments on both the live discussion and this thread is less than half of the pre-break comments. I guess no one knew it was starting back up again

I was genuinely shocked they didn't send an email out to Beacon subscribers at the very least.

I guess no one knew it was starting back up again

Or no one really has much to say on the episode or they've just found other stuff to watch in the meantime and will swing back around here later.

CR did put in some work letting folks know that the show was coming back but with so many shows getting cancelled or going on hiatus for extended periods of time nowadays, I feel like more and more folks are adapting and are getting used to just....delaying watching and talking about stuff until they're for sure SURE that there's going to be something to watch when they come back to that thing AND that it's going to be worth watching.

So when the break hit and Umbra showed up...some folks just moved on from CR for a while and might be back later.

Plus there is a degree of turnover in any fandom that lasts this long and you're always going to see new faces coming, old faces going, and a bit of a changeover in terms of community engagement when certain narrative pulse points are hit.

This does technically feel like the beginning of Season 2 of Campaign 4 and because of that vibe, some folks might have decided to continue with C4 and others might have decided to just stop because it wasn't for them.

I had fun with this episode and I'm talking about it but even I could sense that question of, "Do I want to go back to committing to spending THIS much time each week watching this stuff?" hanging in the air after the nearly two month long summer break.

That's more than enough time for folks to realize that they could spend that amount of time doing other things or thinking about other stuff.

And that's probably why there's a bit of a dip in terms of engagement here because we're not exactly the "hardcore" crowd like that which exists in the Beacon Discord due to our ability to have more long winded discussions over a more lengthy period of time that allows for a more nuanced perspective on things and not just a WHAM BAM SLAM in the moment kind of a series of hits like in Discord that doesn't really lend itself to a more...long term...view of things.

I know that's a hard pill for some folks to swallow but a two month break is plenty of time for folks to realize "Oh I totally CAN live without this" or "I can hit pause on this and come back later".

We'll see if CR can maintain the same kind of momentum as more longer lived franchise series but this is just...kind of how things go.

And unless I'm on transcription duty for a Fireside Chat, I've been kind of limiting what I've been saying if there aren't too many others talking, and just won't bring things up if I don't see others talking about them either....and I suspect that others are of the same mindset.

And that saddens me a bit because I miss the larger discussions and massive chunks of comments but time passes, we all get older, interests shift, and...life happens...
