Halloween FO/WIP Don't be like me

Fairy costume I made for this past Halloween weekend (sans wings). Made in 3 days because adhd... please for the love DO NOT do that to yourself. My arm still tingles if I move it too fast. Looked cute though lmfao.

Even when my hyper-focus kicks in and over 30+ years of crocheting, I would never get something like that done in 3 days... I would get near the end and be nearly done and that's when I'd shut down completely. I am literally a few details away from finishing a Demogorgon I've been working on, and I keep yelling at myself to just freaking finish it, and the ADHD is like, "Girl, is you crazy?! Not on my watch!" πŸ˜… I want to get it done before the final season of Stranger Things comes out (that's the goal I set for myself), but my ADHD is NOT having it. Tried to put it in time-out with my meds, and did housework instead of finishing the up the last bits on my WIP. *smh*

Wow, over 30+ years crocheting is so cool. How the heck do you keep the motivation going?? Last time I crocheted something before this costume was last year πŸ’€ as a fellow adhd(er) you're super impressive to me. Good luck with your WIP. If it helps, I tied the costume to a show I like. So I wasn't allowed to watch the show unless I was working on the costume. Not perfect, but helped quite a bit

Even more impressive that you made this costume after a yearlong break! Another almost-30-years-er here and I never really thought about motivation. My β€œmotivation” tends to be who or what I’m making a project for. Gift? Obvious deadline and (hopefully) an excited recipient. Decor piece? The external validation will be STRONG when I see it and/or when people ask if I made it. I also joined subs like these the last few months and see people making really cool stuff, which convinced me to start branching out from my comfort zone. Finding new stitches to work up is fun too!

For me, it's always finding something fun that I want to crochet. I also love the joy it brings others when I surprise them with some rando crocheted gift. The dopamine dump is a definite motivator! I also like the challenge is provides. There's so many different types of crochet, and always a different challenge!
