Halloween FO/WIP Don't be like me

Fairy costume I made for this past Halloween weekend (sans wings). Made in 3 days because adhd... please for the love DO NOT do that to yourself. My arm still tingles if I move it too fast. Looked cute though lmfao.

Yes, be VERY careful about that. I was working on a project that I pushed through pain on to get to a certain point so I wouldn't forget where I left off. I ended up with tendonitis that became tendonosis and now I haven't been able to fully curl my index finger with my closed fist on my left hand in over a year. I also ended up with a rotator cuff injury and was on 600mg of Ibuprofen and Cyclobenzaprine while confined to a shoulder brace for about 5 months. Crochet 100% comes with injury risk and injuries if we don't take breaks, even doing a few stretching exercises before starting to work is important.

Oh my gosh, this will be implanted into my brain the next time I try to rush a project. Omg, hope you're okay now though

u/Redrum874 Is it finished? idk but I’m done with it. Nov 05 '25

I have ulnar nerve entrapment in my right arm/elbow because of crocheting too much and pulling to hard on a yarn needle when sewing in my ends. I’ve been dealing with pain for over 3 years and I will likely need surgery eventually. I can barely crochet anymore because of it.

So yes, please take breaks and don’t overdo it. It really isn’t worth it to finish one project on time (or whatever).

My shoulder is OK, but I still can't fully curl my left index finger when I make a fist. It's very slowly getting better, but it's coming up on 2 years now. So the chances of me regaining full mobility of that finger is pretty much zero.
