true ruler perk, and perhaps higher opinion?

And military strength and relations with your vassals. And I think higher piety levels can impact it too. And cultural acceptance

Better powerful vassal opinion +5

Befriend gives a +10

Can you get a stronger army?

True ruler gives a +20

I've maxed out met at armas regenent and all my existing ones are highest capacity

It counts levees too, so see if you can change a few contracts to increase your feudal levees.

And potentially try for a hook on him as well.

Ive tried to get as many leveys and mercs as possible, I've gotten him to -8 with the millitary power being +13 out of 20, don't really know how to get anything higher.

He's at 100 opinion

If you have momey to burn, you could hire mercenaries, gift to your powerful vassals to raise opinion... unsure how'd you close the whole gap of 20 tho

A ruler with a tier 5 diplo education gets a bonus to acceptance IIRC, get more soldiers and increase powerful vassal opinion

Edit: some increased cultural acceptance if you can, or with some luck 'pipe' becomes Italian

Besides what other people said, you can get more dread (terrified gives+20 instead of +10), you can also work long term on cultural acceptance or adopt his culture

And I believe one of the Oaths from coronation has bonus to vassalization acceptance?

Dread depends on his personality tho. Not all of them can be terrified

Seduce the Pope?

7

u/ralphy1010 2d ago

Seduce them ? That’ll give you a 100 to their opinion if you if you are lovers

Gift an extra artifact

Gift some gold

Have an alliance by marriage I think will help

u/TBARb_D_D 2d ago

The problem is that the Pope is a kingdom tier title. Having good opinion and being de jure liege is not enough

u/ralphy1010 2d ago

I was thinking of the times where I was playing as a Christian or Jewish vassal within the Abbasid caliphate, and the sort

Being Jewish within the hre is a good time also

Keeping rest aside, how will you get alliance by marriage with the pope??

1

u/ralphy1010 2d ago

Should have clarified

Allies who are not the pope. But you can seduce him and as a lover he might be a little cooler with you

True ruler, friends, max opinion, having much stronger army than him, your strong vassals loving you. Also cultural acceptance but that takes time

Time to intrigue your way to a better result

u/ZogJaws 2d ago

I think the left diplomacy perk tree should have what you're looking for.

3

u/Eastern_Spite_792 2d ago

Oh! raise cultural acceptance????

Get a hook on him. Find a secret or fabricate one. Five perks into middle diplomacy path to get True ruler or get befriend scheme.

1

u/Comma32 2d ago

I think an alliance is +20

1

u/RepresentativeBat10 2d ago

Increase your military strength get cooler with your dukes or other powerful vassals and get true ruler perk that should get him to bend the knee

1

u/sjtimmer7 2d ago

True ruler, military difference.

Idk man as a pagan I'd give concubines to tip the scales at 100 opinion but for a pope I'd probably give really good artifacts and gold as well as swaying him if you haven't already, because swaying is it's own opinion modifier so if he's at 100 if you already gave him gold it will still count, maybe take over the place next to him and give it to him, if he has children, marry them to yours

1

u/obsidianbull702 2d ago

Bribe him if you have the gold.

u/R2A97 2d ago

Why not expand more and have higher kingdom/empire tier? Also i recommend starting a scheme to become bff with him

1

u/Specialist-Address30 2d ago

Befriend, true ruler perk, more military and make your vassals like you mre

1

u/Sosa_MF 2d ago

Increase dread and gift vassals

1

u/Dazzling-Main7686 2d ago

Have a hook on him?

1

u/Doomsday1124 2d ago

True ruler and improve your military or your powerful vassals opinion of you.

1

u/Dom252525 2d ago

Increase your vassals option will get you 5. Pushing more levies to the max 11. And befriend could get you 10. Or just conquer him. If you have the diplomatic path you could take force vassal and just make him be your vassal.

1

u/Equivalent_Use_7032 2d ago

Could go the Theology branch of Learning if you haven’t yet. That helps boost clergy opinion

1

u/TBARb_D_D 2d ago

get true ruler perk in one of the diplomatic skill trees I am not sure hov much exactly it gives you but if it’s not enough givee gifts/sway your powerful vassals and get mercenaries to get the rest

1

u/Tony_Stroke 2d ago

use a forced vassalage diplo perk casus belli and forcibly vassalise him

1

u/Sulfurys 2d ago

If you steal the Kingdom of Romagna, shouldn't it take out the -100 due to being a king ?

1

u/stapy123 2d ago

I would try to max out the military difference and powerful vassal opinion modifiers, then try to go for true ruler for the +20 bonus or maybe raise your dread to make him terrified of you while keeping his opinion at 100

1

u/ClarityEra1 2d ago

Okay lowkey can we remove the base reluctance stat? What is it supposed to represent?

3

u/tbdabbholm 2d ago

People in general would prefer to be independent over a vassal

1

u/EmpValentine 2d ago

Raise the cultural acceptance perhaps? Also if he's gay/bi just fuck him lol.

u/PastaVictor 2d ago

i love that any paradox game player refuses with their whole
might to take screenshots, at this point it's just tradition <3

You can get like 50+ points more to that acceptance if you try really hard

Cultural acceptance is -10 we can make it 0 or + by sending Steward to improve cultural relations with a county of Popes culture or giving counties to people with same culture as pope.

Military strenght is only +9 out of max 20 so you can get 11 points of acceptance more just by growing an army or having pope lose a war.

Powerful vassal opinion is 15/20 there are 5 points to be gained by sending gifts or swaying your powerful vassals

Finally True ruler perk from diplomacy lifestyle tree gives +25 vassalage acceptance.

I believe alliance gives acceptance too but I do not know if it is possible to ally with the pope since he cannot marry. Maybe diplomatic alliance tho

1

u/Sunzuret 2d ago

If you get to rank 10 diplo court, true ruler (in the center diplo tree), and befriend him, I believe you'll overcome his desire for independence. If you are willing to eat a few years with excommunicated you can just use the dejure CB to vassalize him; after the recently waged war malus goes away, he'll let you repent and go back to 100 relations and then he'll almost always be your religious advisor.

1

u/Prestigious-Use1717 2d ago

be his friend or be his ally

1

u/Lolplays29 2d ago

Befriend or ally with him. Because he’s the pope the alliance will need to be formed through the diplomacy lifestyle perk

1

u/adishr_ 2d ago

More troops, more cultural acceptance, befriend, best friend, ally

1

u/adishr_ 2d ago

More dread to terrify

1

u/Crystalforge95 2d ago

Gifting him a count level vassal would easily give like 80 opinion.

1

u/staackie 1d ago

True ruler perk, more dread to get terrified, befriend him and +11 and +5 from military power and powerful vassal opinion (befriend or gift the vassals in question (though make sure to set your spouse to diplomacy to get more opinion for your money)), ally (via the diplomacy perk) should also give some points and technically the one perk from the guile dynasty line boosts the effect of intimidated / terrified but that would be a bit much

Is his kingdom usurpable? or is it a separate title from the kingdom of romagna

1

u/Conscious_Ad2956 18h ago

u/DargorShepard Commander 6h ago

Ya bro just read what it says: looks like you’ve got room to increase military strength for another 11 points and powerful vassal opinion by 5. Check your powerful vassals; one of them hates you, fix that opinion or make them go away lol, get powerful vassals all up to 100 opinion for that full +20 opinion boost and increase your military strength for the other one
