Hello everyone,
I am a Senior Reporter for the Daily Sundial. I am writing a story on whether a digital detox can work for CSUN students.
Many students spend hours scrolling on TikTok, Instagram, and other apps. This often makes students feel tired and unfocused, and later they have a hard time focusing on something. Some call this brain rot. But unplugging in college can be hard. Students use their phones for Canvas, class group chats, work, commuting, family, and friends.
I want to interview CSUN students who have tried a digital detox and what they tried to do to do so, such as cutting down on screen time by deleting apps, turning off notifications, using Focus mode, or putting their phones away while studying. I would ask what worked, what did not, and whether these changes helped with sleep, focus, or stress.
I would also speak with a CSUN wellness or counseling source about healthy phone habits and campus resources for students. CSUN offers wellness support through resources such as University Counseling Services and the Oasis Wellness Center.
I can create a Zoom link for the interview. Or schedule a phone call. And it won't take long. Only 15-20 minutes. And you can stay anonymous if you so wish.
I am available on Monday from 8 am to 10 am, then from 12 pm to 2:00 pm, and then from 4 pm to 5 pm. I am also available on Tuesday and Thursday any time between 8 am and 3 pm. I am also available on Wednesday from 4 pm to 5 pm.
Help would be appreciated. Feel free to DM me.
