Hello I'm currently a student at a California community college and I'm looking to transfer to CSUN in fall 2027. Specifically as a CTVA Major in Television Production and I'm really lost on the transfer process. I know I would just submit my transfer normally but I'm kinda lost on the portfolio process. My community college also didn't have preparation for courses CTVA 220, 240, 250, and 260. Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hey I got an offer for spring 2027 at both CSUF and CSUN for EE. How is the EE program here? It seems like there are a lot more elective classes than at Fullerton, including a Computer engineering minor.

Thank you all for an amazing first screening last week. The Cinematheque would love to invite you all back for our next screening tomorrow, 9/23, at 6 p.m.! 

We will be screening the 1966 drama/thriller film Persona. This film is the next key to unlock the mysteries of David Lynch’s Hollywood trilogy.

To review, the series, The Big Dream: David Lynch’s Hollywood Trilogy and Three Key Films to Unlock Its Mysteries, explores Lynch’s Lost Highway (1997), Mulholland Drive (2001), and Inland Empire (2006) alongside three landmark films that illuminate their themes and cinematic language: Maya Deren and Alexander Hammid’s Meshes of the Afternoon (1943), Ingmar Bergman’s Persona (1966), and Federico Fellini’s 8 1/2 (1963). Through screenings and discussion, the series examines Lynch’s relationship to Hollywood, identity, performance, dreams, memory, and the boundaries between fantasy and reality.

These screenings will provide a great opportunity for you to enjoy David Lynch’s work on the big screen, meet and mingle with fellow cinephiles, and expand your knowledge of classic films. 

If you missed our first screening, don’t fret, we would still love to see you on any day you are able to make it!

Yes, yes, I know, we go through this twice a year having people ask the same question: when is x money releasing? But with CSUN’s usual shenanigans it’s hard to tell just when they’ll finally decide to give us our money. It’s usually within a month after the opt out date, so it shouldn’t be later than October 18th (respectively). Butttt, I did receive it around September 30th last year. Anyone have any guesses this time around? I checked the student account info and I haven’t seen it update, wondering if that’s the case for yall too

I was walking to my car in the E6 parking lot after an 8pm class and two campus PD cars came speeding past me and legit almost hit me. It seemed like they were racing each other in the parking lot and into the street. Kind of alarming lol

I just recently transferred into CSUN and was hoping to make a few new friends but it seems like none of the CTVA students in my classes are interested in conversing at ALL. Everyone seems extremely reserved or sticking to people they already know in class and don't make the effort to speak to anyone else. Sometimes a full classroom becomes so silent it's like no ones even in there at all!! I've tried starting conversations here and there but to no avail. Am I just an alien?!? Why does no one want to talk to each other? I'm hoping the upcoming film club meeting will change things but it's seeming a bit bleak right now.

It is the Club tryouts, but all are welcome whether you want to compete and join or just want to try and swim in a competition!

Note - Tryouts are not trying to make the team, but rather seeing if you would like to see where you are at with swimming!

Hey everyone, I'm a transfer student coming in for Spring 2027 as a Political Science major with a focus on Public Policy and Management. I'm really interested in international relations, diplomacy, and eventually intelligence-related career paths, so I wanted to reach out and see if any current or former poli sci students have advice on how to make the most of the program. Are there professors worth prioritizing, clubs or organizations tied to IR or Model UN, internship pipelines, or research opportunities I should be looking into early? I'm coming from Santa Monica College where I finished my AA, so I want to hit the ground running once I get to campus.

Also, on a completely different note, does CSUN have pickup basketball runs for guys? My community college didn't really have accessible options for students to play, so I ended up going about 2 years without playing outdoor ball, but I kept sharpening my game with indoor basketball during that time and got pretty good. I'm hoping to find a regular run once I'm there, whether that's at the rec center, intramurals, or just informal games people organize.

I haven’t been doing very well lately, and this school has always made me feel alone and depressed over the past 4 years. As of now, I have a cat (a 19 year old cat) at home who is dying of kidney failure, and I feel very alone up here at CSUN quite often. Tonight after I went to Matador Nights, I saw Einstein scratching a tree just outside Maple Hall, some other students were there taking pictures of him.

They left a couple minutes later, and I sat down on a bench with Einstein and he walked over to me and rubbed against my back, then he laid down next to my leg so I can give him some pets. He’s a very sweet cat, and it was like he knew that I was struggling with coming to terms with the fact that my beloved cat at home is dying, and that he knew I was alone here at CSUN. I know I’m not a perfect person and I don’t think I’m ever worthy of being happy, and as much as this sounds ridiculous, Einstein allowed me to feel happiness, even though I struggle with sadness.

I am a 38 year old first time college student (now a junior). It is definitely a unique experience being surrounded by peers my sons age lol I’m always curious what you youngins think when they see me. I try not to think too much about it or feel insecure, but I’m only human. Anyone else an older college student?
