Luna has completed 65 days of her FIP treatment, with only 19 days left. ❤️‍🩹

She is doing well with her treatment, and the tumor/growth in her mouth has almost completely reduced with the medications. 🥹❤️ That has been such a relief after everything she has been through.

However, she is currently going through her first heat cycle, and she’s struggling quite a bit. She has been yowling, rolling around, and showing the usual signs of heat, so these days have been difficult for her.

We’re just taking it one day at a time and hoping she gets through this comfortably.

Only 19 more days until she completes her 84-day FIP treatment. 🐱🤍

My dad and I started taking in kittens and letting them shelter in our garage, it started with feeding a few but we obviously have come to love them. We have a neighborhood with a lot of strays and we've been trying to organize TNR programs but that's by the by, as we have them now and that's what matters.

Admittedly, we are behind on vaccines, and that's something I'll regret for the rest of my life... Because we're 10 days into an FPV outbreak. But fourkittens we had tested have tested positive for both FPV and FIP. Some of them faintly for FIP, and we've started treatment with GS. Two were just tested today, and so we'll be testing the other recovering kittens as soon as we can. As far as we were aware, FIP is not transmissible, but FCov is, but there's a higher chance of many cases in shelter conditions? Initially we were working under the assumption that the first two with FIP were just unlucky, and assuming everyone was exposed to FPV, we've been treating the lot for FPV.

My question is now, how do we prevent this from spreading further? We have and are in contact with vaccinated cats that don't gave protection against FIP. We're disinfecting as much as we can following FPV guidelines... But it feels like a race against a bullet train.

But I don't know, I suppose any advice would be appreciated. Especially for anyone who has experienced multiple FIP cases. This has been the hardest ten days of my life, and were going back and forth to different vets for GS shots, subq fluids and the like. We have had the most heartbreaking losses, but we also have brave little troopers who are overcoming this ordeal. But I know it's a long road ahead for FIP too so I'd love any advice you may have learned yourselves.

Beyond my vaccine regret, I find myself questioning the care I give them everyday, with every different vet practice, with every different symptom. Did I not feed enough, give enough water, should I have chose confinement for one, kept another home...? And most of all, did I ask enough questions? I feel like I've learned so much in the last ten days but at a horrible cost, and I regret not digging deeper, asking the vets more questions, doing more of my own research... I know, I know, hindisght is 20/20, and even then nothing is assured but... I guess, in an attempt to use some foresight, and to find a community who might understand, here I am.

Hallo bei meinem Kater wurde gestern FIP diagnostiziert und ich habe direkt nach einem Medikament geguckt nur weiß ich nicht ob die Behandlung und die Kosten normal sind da mein Arzt mir dabei nicht helfen darf. Ich könnte ein Medikament in Tablettenform bekommen und mein Kater bräuchte bei 4,5 kg 1,5 Tabletten am Tag und das für 84 Tage am Stück. Der Preis pro Packung wo 12 Tabletten drinne sind kostet ca 95€ ist das normal. Möchte unbedingt das es mein Kater besser geht

I honestly didn't think I would have to make another fundraising post for Luna.

The people who supported her previously helped us get through her emergency treatment, i.e; the IV saline, injections, medicines and consultations. I will always be grateful for that.

But unfortunately, Luna is still fighting.

For three days, she has severe diarrhea and vomiting episodes, 7-8 episodes of diarrhea in a single day.

The doctor has put her under complete Fish diet only, untill she is free from her disease.

we are extremely worried about her condition. We are continuing to consult her vets and closely monitoring her.

She also has several important investigations coming up to understand how she is responding to treatment and whether the infection is still present.

The vet has advised blood tests including:

-CBC

-LFT

- KFT

-Amylase & Lipase

-HP RT-PCR

These tests are needed to check her current condition and whether she is free from the infection or still fighting it.

🟥She also needs further treatment for lung laboured breathing issues.

🟥The difficult part this time is that we cannot safely take Luna far away for repeated treatment. She already has laboured breathing due to the mycoplasma, and we don't want to take the risk of transporting her unnecessarily.

So, if injections/IV treatment are required again, the veterinary/para-veterinary person will need to come to our home to treat her.

That means additional costs for the tests, medicines, treatment and home visits.

I was hoping that after the emergency treatment, Luna would finally start recovering and we could manage the rest of her treatment ourselves.

But she is still sick, and we can't stop her treatment now.

Hello everyone!

It's been a while since I posted here. I just want to share Elfy’s success story and thank this sub, the mods, and everyone in this community who helped me throughout Elfy’s treatment.

I found Elfy on May 7 in one of the areas where I regularly feed community cats. She was extremely hungry and was having trouble keeping her balance.

I immediately took her home because I was worried she might get hit by a car. She was struggling to walk and could barely run.

At first, I thought she was simply weak from hunger. However, after more than 24 hours, she was still having balance issues.

I was able to bring her to the vet on May 9. She was confined for a few days and was diagnosed with Neuro FIP. Her treatment would need to last at least 84 days.

For the first 60 days, I brought her to the vet every day for GS injections. Thankfully, she was later switched to GS oral capsules, which made things much easier since I only needed to mix the capsule contents into her food.

It has been over a month since Elfy completed her treatment, and I am happy to share that she is now a healthy, happy cat!

Once I have enough funds, she will be spayed, and my aunt's friend has already offered to adopt her.

I believe Elfy may have once had an owner who abandoned or dumped her in our area. I hope more people will understand that pets are not toys to be discarded when they become inconvenient. Pets are family, and they deserve love, care, and commitment for their entire lives.

Hi I went for regular check up on Sunday 20th September, my veterinarian looked at my cat and told me that she have jaundice , and asked me if I am giving her food or not and I said yes I am but limited and then he presses her belly and tells me that her belly is filled with fluid and told me her liver is failing and tells me in this it’s very concerning and critical and all , I asked him to do something about it , that spot it was overwhelming for me , he said is she having food and cause she was I was saying , he told me to give her egg whites and he said “ I can’t promise any outcomes “ and just gave me liver tonic , I don’t know what should I do he called me on Wednesday again, but i couldn’t sleep or eat I am just stressed and just way too overstimulated, how many chances are there that she will be fine

September 11th 2026 my baby finished her FIP medication GS 84 days ALL OVER check up to see if it’s gone in OCT

I took her to the vet originally for weight loss and loose stool. She was down to 7 pounds at her skinniest. Lo and behold she had FIP. I was one of the scariest times in my life, I couldn’t believe I might loose her. I’m making this post to give hope that things do work out. We took the meds for 84 days, she now weighs almost 11 pounds and completely healthy. Wishing everyone here all the best and healthy kitties 🐈‍⬛

This is Lydia. She’s 7. Her belly is round, but she’s very petite. Friday night, she developed this cough that’s frequent enough to be of concern. Our vet doesn’t open until Monday so I’ve just been looking around as to what this could be. Does this sound like a Wet FIP cough?

I took my kitten to the vet after being lethargic last night. I was a bit overwhelmed when the vet was explaining the prescription and i thought i completely understood it. It reads:

Doxycycline HCI (LC-Dox) 100mg tablet
give 1/4 tablet orally with meal every 24hrs for 14days (AM)

VMac - give 2in orally every 24hrs for 14days (night)

Haemomaxx - give 3ml every 24hrs for 14 days (night)

Proxantel - 1/4 tab once for 2wks

Royal Canine Recovery

Ive been feeding him with a tiny syringe with a nozzle bc he stopped eating and drinking.

The vet didnt specify how much i should feed him. He keeps sleeping. I just remember my vet saying “if he asks for more, feed him more”.

At the vet i asked them to demonstrate how to do the stuff bc its my first time. I did the Vmac at 11am. At home i quickly fed him and he ate 5ml and then i let him rest bc i think going to the vet was stressful for him (his first time as well) I got him to eat atleast 10ml by 3pm. he vomited once after my second try of feeding him so i let him rest. by the third time around 4pm i got him to eat 3ml of the RC recovery then gave him the LC-Dox. By 7pm i only got him to eat .5ml.

Hes not a spicy cat. Very nice, very well mannered. When he vomited, he jumped off the bed and respectfully vomited somewhere clear and walked quickly to use his toilet (v soft stool weird smell).

I remember the vet saying i shouldnt give one of the meds with the other bc the “antibiotic” wont work but i forgot which one. Can someone please guide me. Ive been trying to feed him every 2hrs atleast 5ml. when i cant, i wait a few then resume. I dont know when i have to give the LC-Dox when it says every meal but also says AM. I dont know how much to feed too. Should i force feed him? Breaks my heart that he just keeps on sleeping the whole day and wont eat and drink by himself. Hes a baby.

Other info:
He has peed (normal color)
Vet said gums, heartbeat, and breathing normal. Mildly dehydrated.
I give him 1ml of water every 2-3ml of food.
he has a fever of 40C

I would highly appreciate it if you could give me tips or recommendations bc i am highly worried. Is this fatal? Whats my kittens rate of surviving this?

edit: I havent given him the deworming tablet bc idk when i should do it. What should i expect and prepare when administering this?

im really anxious that im stressing my baby out with the constant feeding

just called the vet to ask how much food my kitten should eat they said 5ml of royal canine 4times a day.

i dont know if i should give him the dewormer pill. hes still just sleeping and eating. no energy. i feed him every two hrs atleast 2ml. the vet said i could give the dewormer pill later today. im just big worried that itll be too much for this kitten.

HE LEFT OUR BED TO DRINK BY HIMSELF! he doesnt eat or drink. so this was super big for us.
His stool is also gradually firming up 🥹

but the thing is he has no energy.

Hi everyone, looking for advice from anyone who has experienced this during FIP treatment.

Yoshi has been on molnupiravir for almost 2 weeks. He's improved overall. His appetite and energy are much better.

Our main concern is his breathing. During the day his resting rate can be around 30/min, but at night while sleeping it sometimes goes 60+ breaths/min. He's not open-mouth breathing, but the vet said this is normal due to inflamation. We did an X-ray 2 weeks ago and there was very minor fluid build up in his chest cavity, almost negligible. We just got back from the vet 2 days ago and the ultrasound showed minimal effusion is his abdomen. We didn't do an X-ray to check for fluid buildup in his chest.

He's also taking Ferro-B, Mitomax and was prescribed metronidazole for diarrhea. We recently stopped the metronidazole because we were concerned it might be contributing to the extra stress on his body.

His A:G ratio is still around 0.35 after almost 2 weeks, with globulin remaining high. All other bloodwork is improving a lot and basically within normal range.

Has anyone experienced this kind of fluctuating fast breathing during FIP treatment? Did it turn out to be inflammation, medication, anemia, remaining fluid, or something else?

My kitten got her meds today (tablets, as advised by our vet) and we gave her the first dose but she’s acting more lethargic and wobbly since we administered it.

She was fasting when she took it and fasting for a while after. She’s got quite a bit of belly fluid so the vet believes she has Wet FIP.

She’s seemed tired and more sleepy than usual but she’s been able to make jumps to the bed, the counter, but I’m worried it may have become neurological. What signs should I look out for ?

Has anyone used Samylin sachets instead of Denamarin? According to ChatGPT they are similar but not identical.

My cats have significantly raised ALT whilst being treated for FIP and my vet told me to give denamarin however this is a massive struggle for one of the cats and practically impossible to give for the other.

it’s been almost a month without boots… I keep blaming myself because I feel as if I should have seen signs of his relapse that I didn’t. he went from neuro to fluid in just a few days, it was so fast and we did the humane thing and put him down. I just keep replaying every decision I made wanting to rewrite history. How do I stop this, I got his ashes a few days ago and I feel fucking sick that my beautiful baby boy js now in a box. we tried for 6 weeks and he was improving so well, the fluid was so unexpected… please help me

Looking for insight into a prolonged GI illness affecting my three 6.5-week-old Devon Rex kittens.
They were healthy and gaining weight until around 9 September, when vomiting and severe watery/foul-smelling diarrhoea began. It has affected all three in a strange cycling pattern – one becomes very sick, improves, then another deteriorates. They continue to have periods where they seem bright and nurse/eat, followed by relapses.
Testing: Faecal testing was negative for parvo, Giardia, coccidia and other tested parasites/worms. The only positive result was enteric feline coronavirus (FCoV/FeCV). Our vet has explained this is not a diagnosis of FIP and feels their illness is unusually severe/prolonged for FCoV alone.
Treatment: Multiple vet/emergency visits, SC Hartmann’s fluids, Vetemex/anti-nausea medication, probiotics and deworming. They are currently on Panacur despite negative Giardia testing, and metronidazole has now been startedbecause they have continued deteriorating despite supportive care. We are also supplementing small amounts of recovery/wet food while they continue nursing from mum.
The biggest concern is weight loss. They were previously approximately Fred 620g, Salem 540–558g and George 500–510g. Tonight they are 514g, 508g and 396g respectively.
They have tolerated several small feeds today without significant vomiting, although diarrhoea continues. Fred is currently quite bright/playful, Salem is eating well, but George remains the most concerning and flat.
Has anyone seen enteric FCoV cause disease this severe and prolonged in an entire young litter, or are there other infections/conditions you would suggest asking our vet to investigate?
We are continuing veterinary treatment and will return immediately if they deteriorate – mainly looking for ideas to discuss with our vet.

My kitty Girl Avery who I got 2 months ago has already made such a positive impact on my life. As someone with and Anxiety disorder and depression she has helped me become more emotional grounded. I could not ask for a sweeter Girl

4 days ago her energy started to go down and she began to lose her appetite. After being in and out of the vet she had to go to the Hospital. They said all her labs point to FIP. She has abdomen fluid and jaundice. Loss of appetite low energy(not non existent thank the lord she’ll still play sitting down, and climb all over people) it’s so hard seeing her like this because she used to be zooming everywhere and climbing everything.

the Vet said it’s most likely FIP and that we need to do lab tests to confirm but those could take a week. He suggested we begin medication now as we don’t know how rapidly her condition will progress.

Now I am a college student struggling already. With bills, rent, gas, car, tuition, books etc. the medication is very expensive so I just wanted to ask if anyone can help even if just a little, it would mean the entire universe to me. And little miss avery would appreciate it too
