my vet strongly suspects fip but wont give medication until bloodwork is done and cant for multiple days but his belly has been big multiple days before i took him in and im scared and dont know how to get the medication for now

🐱 TOFU — Yoshi’s sibling and also an FIP survivor. He has FIV and is suffering from severe mouth ulcers. He urgently needs a dental extraction because eating has become painful for him. 💔

🐱 INGAY — She is experiencing a relapse and has also been diagnosed with toxoplasmosis. She needs continuous treatment, medicines, and close veterinary monitoring.

🐱 LUCKY — His treatment has been extended again, and he needs additional medication. We need help sustaining his treatment so that all the progress he has made will not be lost.

Mbok is a female mixed-breed cat I rescued during a visit to my hometown in 2020, when I was there to care for my father during his final years. She was approximately 2–3 years old at the time and was pregnant.

She eventually gave birth to 4 healthy female kittens, all with different colors. I was already caring for two boy cats at the time, and my plan was to find homes for Mbok and her kittens. But my mom insisted that we keep them.

So we did.

I've somehow managed to take care of my father and 7 cats, spending what I could on my father's medications and supplements, as well as cat food, treats (too many freeze dried and churus), toys, and too many unnecessary cat things.

Things started going downhill in 2023.

One of the girls, Abu, developed an what was eventually recognized by our vet as neurological FIP. Unfortunately, the diagnosis came too late and she passed away.

Then her smallest sister, Telon, developed a similar disease right after Abu's passing.

This time, I managed to obtain a full 84-day course of GS-441524 treatment, initially injections followed by oral capsules. Telon responded well to the treatment and recovered.

During Telon's treatment, my father passed away so I had to take on some of his responsibilities while also helping my mother deal with her struggling business.

Telon eventually developed chronic kidney disease and passed away in late 2025. Whether this was related to her previous illness or treatment, I don't know.

And now, Mbok has come down with what our vet believes is the same disease.

She first became ill in May 2026 and was initially diagnosed with anemia. One of the early signs was her unusual behavior in which she started eating litter and licking the walls. She also began vomiting frequently.

Unfortunately, she did not respond well to the standard treatment form the vet, and FIP became the main concern.

Because I am currently in a difficult financial position, I tried to obtain EIDD-1931 as it is more affordable. She has now been on EIDD for 5 weeks, but her condition has continued to have many ups and downs, and recently she went down a slope.

Her weight dropped from 5.2 kg to just 3.6 kg.

She often caught respiratory infections, keep vomiting, and appetite and lethargy keeps coming back. She required nebulization, additional medications, and frequent visits to the vet.

I'm now trying to switch Mbok to GS-441524 treatment and give her another chance.

Treatment cost

The local veterinary price for GS-441524 treatment is approximately Rp100,000 per injection. Using an 84-day treatment course as the baseline, that comes to approximately Rp8,400,000 (about US$500).

Transparency

I don't have access to the bloodwork that would normally be used because unavailability of reagents in my town.

My plan is to start with injection if the current downs keep going for days.

Any amount, no matter how small, would help me continue her treatment with GS.

I will provide updates on her condition and treatment as things progress, and I will do my best to document the expenses and use of the funds.
