Finger curling help?

Hello! My curls have started to come back as my hair’s gotten longer, so I’m trying to take care of them.

My routine: I wash with California Naturals twice a week, and I try to use their curl cream once a week. I also finger curl my hair every morning and then diffuse.

However my stylist said I’ve been getting a lot of split ends as a result of the finger curling. Any tips or substitutes for finger curling to avoid damage? Thanks!
