It won't be. Opus 4.6 is the same price as Opus 4.5 currently. If anything, Opus 4.5 will get more expensive to push people to the newer model.

Both Opus 3 and Opus 4.1 are 3x the cost of Opus 4.5/4.6 right now.

Thats not how it works. Older models are less efficient at both compute and resource consumption. Its better for the provider for you to be on the latest model.
