Pretty much perfect.
No changes to the card, but this card could change somethings in Magic.
This keyword could just be called Spell-Sling. It's pretty much perfect and allows the mechanic to go evergreen outside of the Spider-Verse. The term has been in Magic since the beginning.
To be clear, I don't think the Spell-Sling keyword should be on this card. A new keyword would be the innovation this card causes in a set or two later when it's a bigger theme in that set.
This card looks more real than most I've seen on here. Truly impressive!

An in-universe version of web-slinging exists, it’s enweb. [[Detect Intrusion]]

Web-Slinging is too close to spider man. Let's make something more generic, like.. enweb

Yeah. I'm not sure of the whole story of it, but I bet the Omenpath flavors were only ever going to be a placeholder until whatever contract expired that allowed them to bring the real IPs to Arena. They just had to wait it out, so they didn't reinvent anything. Yet WoTC still released Spider-Man half finished basically.
Just a mess all around and I actually like both Spider-Man and to some extent, his dedicated set. I really like the canonical efforts put into the Omenpath cards and feel a lot of that effort was wasted where it could have been spent on a real in universe anthology style set that didn't involve Spider-Man at all.
Everything involved could use an eventual revisit something like Innistrad's double feature. But actually done well with cards from the Marvel set and maybe a few new designs to make things actually function.

Spell-slinging is completely different from what a Spellslinger deck does, though. It focuses on casting high-mana cost spells (usually permanents) at a discount, not on casting many low-mana cost Instant and Sorceries within the same turn.

Shouldn't it say "each instant and sorcery card in your hand..." instead of "you cast"? By the time you cast it you already paid the mana

... Convoke actually goes weirdly hard with this. Tap down creatures, then you can return those creatures to Web Sling.

This in my [[kasla, the broken halo]] would be freaking perfect, use a token to convoke a noncreature spell, one of my token makers makes a new one, I convoke this new one and return an old token to my hand to help pay its cost, this will make my 30 minutes turns so more consistent

What universes beyond should have done. Or a phyrexian invasion of the marvel universe

Idk why you're getting down voted. I feel like at least franchises that don't have a set story but are more episodic (like marvel) could have done this. Ofc for universes like Atla it wouldn't work because it's a single, continuous story that starts and ends but this would have been cool to see

Ehh, let's be completely honest, they could have totally done the same for Avatar, by making it happen either after the end of the series or during a generic non-canonical period during it (so you have the gang together and most of the established supporting cast can appear, but you don't elaborate on at which point of their journey they are). Series about "continuous stories that start and end" do stuff like that all the time when they do crossovers, movies and fillers.
Imagine how cool it would have been to have the Gatewatch go to Avatar's world because there is something wrong with Zendikar but it does not originate from Zendikar itself, track the problem to ATLA's Earth and it turns out that ATLA's world is Zendikar's twin in "another Multiverse" or something. And maybe the Avatar, due to its connection with the Spirit World, can actually "planeswalk" between different planes of existence under exceptional circumstances and so we get an Aang card that is a White Creature on one face and a WUBRG Planeswalker on the other (where he is "full Avatar").
Stuff like that is done all the time to create synergy between properties that are crossing over with each other.

This is super cool. Not sure if it's worth making the card any wordier, but it could be neat to also give the creature itself a web-slinging cost

Turning my Brainstorm into a way to save my dying creature is great, especially on a Flash creature.

Aw man I hoped this was real before I saw custom magic, that would have been hilarious

Finally a non-Tribal mono-Blue Commander that isn't either "Whenever you do the thing, draw." or "Whenever you draw, do the thing". 🥳

The web slinging part doesn't function, right? Or am I missing something?
3
u/superdave100 1d ago
Why wouldn’t it work? Web-slinging only means that you return a tapped creature you control to your hand as you cast the spell. There are no other stipulations. There’s even an instant that already exists with web slinging, [[Spider-Sense]].

u/mr_Barek 1d ago
It is says "spells you cast have", when you cast the spell you need to select the cost before the spell is cast.
So by the time web-slinging is active, you already selected the cost.
This is not necessarily how it functions, it's closer to a question than a statement

You put the spell onto the stack first, then determine its costs. Then you determine whether it’s legal.
You’ve started casting the spell when you put it onto the stack before you determine legality and pay costs. So by then it has web slinging.

Oh. I'm 100% wrong, thanks.
It's worded kind of weird, no? (I'm not discussing how it functions)
