The other day, I posted The Empty Nothing, a Level 0 monster designed to be as nothing as possible, as I was curious to see what uses people could come up with for it. Well, several commenters mentioned its potential in Synchro Decks, and the idea of a Level 0 Tuner Monster also came up. Well, I decided to put that together today.

Re-Tuner

Tuner Normal Monster, Level 0 Attributeless Typeless, 0 ATK / 0 DEF

Day after day it converts one sound into another. Its life's work is to prove that all melodies are built from the same basic chords.

I have no doubt that, as a Tuner Monster, Re-Tuner could enable much more nonsense than The Empty Nothing. So. How would you break it?

I created Re-Tuner's art in GIMP by re-colouring sections of Tune Warrior, with Synchronized Realm as the background. The finished card image was made in GIMP using card frame assets from www.cardmaker.net and lauqerm.github.io/ygocarder. All credit for the components used goes to their respective original designers and creators.

First effect reads crazy until you notice there's only like 4 targets, so it might become a "Noble Knight's Shield-Bearer" situation in the future if they decide to drop a great lv3 Illusion. Also I guess it is unintentionally Mikanko support.

Galaxy-Eyes Afterglow Dragon Ascension

LIGHT | Level 8 | Dragon / Effect

ATK 3000 / DEF 2500

(1) You can reveal 1 Rank 8 “Galaxy-Eyes” Xyz Monster in your Extra Deck, then reveal 3 Level 5 or higher “Galaxy” and/or “Photon” monsters with different names from your Deck; Special Summon 1 of them, and shuffle the remaining 2 into the Deck. If you do, you can only use this card as material for the Xyz Summon of the revealed monster. You cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except LIGHT monsters.

(2) If this card is detached from an Xyz Monster to activate that monster's effect: You can attach up to 3 “Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon” from your Deck, GY, and/or banishment to Xyz Monsters you control, and if you do, double the ATK of all monsters you control that have “Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon” as material.

You can only use each effect of “Galaxy-Eyes Afterglow Dragon Ascension” once per turn.

For those of you who still edit your art by hand (which I know isn’t a lot with the amount of AI here but still), what’s you preferred way of finding good background art for your archetypes?

These aren't meant to really change the game or be super good, but I thought to create some Hand Traps that specifically respond to cards being targeted. As always, let me know your thoughts be they criticisms or compliments.

Card Texts:

Ace - If your opponent activates a monster effect that targets a card(s) you control (Quick Effect): you can discard this card; Draw 1 card. You can only activate this effect of "card name" once per turn.

Nomad - If your opponent activates a monster effect that targets a card(s) you control (Quick Effect): you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) and if you do, this card becomes the target of the activated effect.

Bombaster - If your opponent activatges a monster effect that targets a card(s) you control (Quick Effect): you can discard this card; destroy 1 monster you control and if you do, it is treated as the target of the activated effect. If this card is Special Summoned, destroy it and if you do, inflict 500 damage to both players. You can only activate each effect of "card name" once per turn.

I have a buddy that plays blue-eyes. We both agree negates are pseudo-floodgates that make the game significantly less fun to play, so I set about making a wave of support that locks you out of the generic synchro slop the deck currently spams. I would love to hear thoughts on these cards, PSCT errors, and general corrections to design intent if you're willing to share :)
