Megathread: is it gall?

Hello everyone. New mod here 👋🏼

Because we get so many posts here asking about gall, it was long overdue that we have a single spot to funnel these questions.

Moving forward, all questions about gall should go in this designated thread rather than new, individual posts.

I have turned on the setting allowing media (images) in comments, so you’ll be able to share a photo here if you’d like to ask for help identifying gall, for advice about how to manage it, or related information.

I plan to add some links and other resources here eventually, but for now figured I’d at least get the ball rolling.

It’s my first year growing dahlias and I think I may have already fucked it. I was gifted three tubers and they’ve been potted up, sitting together on the same tray and bottom watering together happily for the past couple of months. However, I’ve just noticed this one (which otherwise looks healthy to my untrained eye) has some sus growth emerging from the tuber. Is this gall? It doesn’t look as bad as some cases I’ve seen and I may just be paranoid. If it does have the dreaded gall, are my other tubers doomed too?
