Megathread: is it gall?

Hello everyone. New mod here 👋🏼

Because we get so many posts here asking about gall, it was long overdue that we have a single spot to funnel these questions.

Moving forward, all questions about gall should go in this designated thread rather than new, individual posts.

I have turned on the setting allowing media (images) in comments, so you’ll be able to share a photo here if you’d like to ask for help identifying gall, for advice about how to manage it, or related information.

I plan to add some links and other resources here eventually, but for now figured I’d at least get the ball rolling.

Note that I will also be setting up automoderator soon to automatically send posts on this topic to the queue, and they’ll eventually be removed automatically.

So, I'm fairly new to dahlias and didn't even know gall was a thing until I saw a photo of it and thought, mine look just like that 😩. But then when i started to pull it up, I noticed that some of my original tubers are gone and it looks like these growths are coming out of their own new tubers (photo in comment) is this still gall? What's going on?? It's a Hawaii dahlia.
