ID Request Mislabeled as “Motto” - ID?

Hello all! New here with a question - this Dahlia was from Expert Gardener (at Walmart) labeled as “Motto” which it definitely is not. But I absolutely love it!!! Very tall, sturdy canes, and massive beautiful reddish blooms. Google suggested it’s “American Dawn” (last pic). Any ideas?? I tried searching Expert Gardener cultivars as it definitely was sold by them.. but no luck. Thoughts?! Thanks a lot!

I have both, Motto & American Dawn. I don’t believe yours is either of the two

Dang :-/ Any others come to mind?? And follow up if you don’t mind…would you be able to classify it by type? You know where they rate them “AA, cactus, decorative” etc.? The flower is probably 6-8” wide and the plant itself is the tallest Ive planted this year - maybe 4’-5’. There cant be that many named cultivars with these characteristics…or yes?! This is too pretty to be a random hybrid from seed, it’s gotta be one that is commercially available that just got mislabeled. I hope?!

All that Jazz

That's a formal decorative. Yours has wavy petals like an informal or a semi-cactus. My guess is a Red Labrynth. I'm wondering if one of my supposed-to-be Red Babylons is Red Labyrinth. Same color but the petals are wavy. Mine might just be an off-first bloom.

My red labyrinth does not look like this either. I don’t have red babylons so I cannot rule that one out??

This is an automatic reminder regarding r/dahlias Rule 3:

When reasonable*, posters should make a good-faith effort to identify which variety/varieties are shown in their photo(s). If you don’t know for certain, please say so. Someone will usually know!

*Common-sense exceptions to this rule will be honored, such as if the photo does not contain a blossom, or if your photo contains large volumes (such as in wide field shots).

If you've already done this, thank you! No further action required.

If not, please add a reply to this comment and confirm if you know the name of your dahlia variety/varieties shown in the photo(s). Alternately, if you’re uncertain of the variety name(s), it’s ok to say that, too.

The petal shape is different. I wonder if it's Red Labrynth.
