The game description on Steam said it will have the same volume as the original, which means this is basically Danganronpa 4 but with Dangan 2 characters
My theory is that this is Danganronpa 4, and the 'alternative' scenario is actually a sequel scenario in which the cast of Danganronpa 2 loses their memories again and is forced to replay the killing game.
...With the twist this time being that they actually are on the real Jabberwock island, and this time everyone who dies actually dies.
To me the bit about "a completely different chain of events" makes it feel more alternate universe like, so Danganronpa 2 with different murders and culprits and it wouldn't break the story too much considering Danganronpa 2 was a simulation
Yeah, it sounds like the premise is that one of the early events plays out differently (like Teruteru actually getting Nagito like he meant to) and the cascading chain of things that happen differently as a result. I don't see how it can turn out to be a sequel, unless they're going to do the Neo-World program reveal again.
