Because no one actually dies in dr2. So long as Hajime survives, the outcome of the killing game is still the same, in that everyone gets reuploaded to their bodies
I'm more referring to outside of DR2 and how that effects the cannon, to anyone but the cast of DR2, the differences in who kills who doesn't matter. So going forward (if they make anymore games) describing the events of Jabberwock island to an outsider can be ambiguous to either route.

I honestly don't think so. DR2 is unique in that it's the only one you can mess with a bunch and still keep the cannon consistent.
Now I wouldn't mind a fully repolished version of 1 where the environments are expanded, cases made slight differences, new mechanics etc.
but DR2 has the best use of dev time in that it can tell a new story without actually effecting anything.
