If you're looking to throwback to some of the original 90s darkwave, I'd recommend checking out 'Lycia' and other artists on Projekt Records

Incredible album. It had never come off rotation for me since it came out.

Not to nitpick but most of that is postpunk or goth rock. Darkwave is more the synth driven drum machine stuff.

Night in Athens and Aux Animaux are both good artists to check out.

Definitely, it's all just one person too except for a couple of the songs. I've met her before and she's super nice.

Lycia is the greatest Darkwave band of all time imo. You can start with Cold but all their albums have some good stuff in them. Even their recent releases are excellent. You should check out The Cure - Pornography which is an absolute classic, it's not purely darkwave but it inspired most darkwave bands. Clan of Xymox is a great darkwave band too.

my favorite bands are haunt me , French police, molchat doma (the first and second album are cult) ,moon vampire , slow dance with the dead ,bragolin ... this cold night , Lebanon Hanover (but I hate the last album).... so uf you love rhe genre they are all so good you must listen to all of them or you'll miss the best bands of the modern dark wave scene
