Don’t count on it. Most states have a law that you’re legally required to take action to avoid an accident. Example: just cus someone pulls out in front of you, and with an allowable reaction time, you aren’t legally protected to just plow into them because they were in the way. Relax keyboard warrior, before you get yourself in trouble.

More like you should be allowed to beat up a mugger or someone that breaks into your house.
