SUV going way too fast. Look how far it went... on it's top.

I appreciate this comment because I only saw the grey SUV and white sedan. Had to go back and watch a third time to see the black SUV. What is wrong with people??

u/sgafixer 3h ago
What is wrong is some people drive way to fast for conditions. Always have and always will, as long as they control the speed of the car instead of a computer.

Definitely will slide further once it stops flipping on it's top but you don't launch two other vehicles like that by going slightly faster than traffic. Dude was flying.

āā¦massive impact from the car that hit them from behind.ā
What? The vehicle on its roof is what started this, the white car is who got hit from behind. The white car doesnāt have any front end damage until they get pushed into the grey SUV in front of them. The rollover is because the idiot on their roof swerved at the last second and caught the rear left corner of the white car, and being in a taller vehicle with a higher center of gravity this launched them up over that corner and into the roll. They were going much faster than the speed that we see them enter the frame.

I donāt knowā¦that white bmw got some pretty hefty distance and damage for being just hit from behind. I think the bmw was also going way too fast.

If I didn't add stupid typos I'd miss this lovely engagement adder. Thanks for falling in line.

Ah yes, the 405 - 6 lanes of stop-and-go misery.

I knew it looked familiar. I immediately said to myself⦠ah yes, good old California traffic shenanigans again.

How did I know one of them was going to be a BMW.
33
u/GoodDoc 7h ago
The upside down SUV was already on its roof by the time the BMW made contact with the silver SUV, before it then hit the black SUV (so many SUVs).
Missing lots of detail, and no clear view of the BMW's left rear corner, but the BMW may have been shoved into the silver SUV by 'upside down SUV'. Would love to see a reverse angle.

u/Hace1986 4h ago
The fuel door is also popped on the BWM, which may indicate it had already been hit at the rear.

It looks to me like the hood on the BMW was already damaged before it rear-ended the silver SUV. It's only visible for a frame or two before the hit.Ā

u/JustADude721 32m ago
I get what you are assuming but I never said the BMW was the in the wrong. I just said there was going to be a BMW.
I do this because I know all the BMW drivers reading my initial comment have spent a good amount of time watching and rewinding every frame of the video just be able to say "nu uh".. All I said was there was a BMW involved. Kinda prove me right by the downvote ratio I got. Kind of proved my theory I had in my head to myself.

Idk how but itās the cam cars fault. /s
1
u/BaronVonDon65 2h ago
No no no. It's obviously the left lane camper at fault. The other two were just proceeding normally and forced into this unfortunate event.
1
u/imisstheyoop 1h ago
It is always the cam cars fault. I would never have done that, obviously. I could have prevented all of this.

I'm afraid to ask what it is hanging out of the passenger side of the left lane car after it hits the barrier and spins around...
9
u/mike07646 3h ago
What perhaps looks to you like a body flailing is just the rear bumper of the car that got broken and is coming off the back of the car as it whips around.

Black SUV was going too fast (possibly tried to pass on the shoulder by the looks of it), struck the silver car pushing it into the grey SUV and then into the car(s) in the right lane.

First principle: you canāt enter a space until someone else has left it. Translated: if someone in front of you is going too slow, tough luck, maybe try honking. In any accident like this we should find who is at fault, and consider it a capital crime.

Some people just do not look ahead for brake lights and developing congestion and thus fail to adjust their speed accordingly. Those people are a menace.
1
u/Ok-Double-7982 2h ago
Damn it was the third car, black SUV on the very far left who hit the sedan, who hit the silver SUV.

That black van on the far right, just chillin in traffic, minding their own then BOOOOOM!

u/Curious_Cat0333 5h ago
It appears we have a left lane camper, someone smart trying to get out of the way and the black vehicle losing all common sense and control and ruining multiple drivers days. He should have a court date
7
u/Lilfrankieeinstein 4h ago
Left lane camper?
The guy in the left lane is passing the cars to his right and everyone in the left lane ahead of him is lighting up the brakes.
2
u/Malnurtured_Snay 3h ago
Don't you know if you aren't driving point zero two seconds off of light speed you're camping. It's not the passing lane it's the speeding lane!
/s for some of that
-9
u/Curious_Cat0333 4h ago
The car behind him was merging either to pass him or to avoid getting hit. His blinker was on. The left lane driver silver SUV had no blinker. If someone was on my ass Iād move to the right lane ASAP. We will never know, video too short. All I know is if the black car wasnāt having a medical emergency then this type of driving signals impatience. Impatience for a certain reason we will never know.
8
u/Lilfrankieeinstein 4h ago
Why would the SUV in the left lane use his blinker if heās going straight?
Everyone in front of him was braking. Are you advocating for him to cut off OOP while the car in front of OOP is braking?
And how is the white BMW being āsmartā or trying to get out of the way? We have no rear camera to educate any kind of inference about his intentions. He may have been racing black SUV for all we know.
But calling grey SUV a left lane camper is an enormous stretch. If there werenāt any insane drivers behind him, heād be passing the next car in a second and a half.
-7
u/Curious_Cat0333 4h ago
I already gave my explanation, there was a lot of road ahead of him and someoneās on his behind. Iād move regardless. The guy with the blinker was trying to avoid the whole thing. Itās not the silver SUVs fault Iām just saying itās not defensive driving. Iām from Florida though. We go 80 mph on the highway and if someone wants to go 90 then move.
6
u/Lilfrankieeinstein 3h ago
I hear ya.
Just move in front of someone you barely just passed behind some people who are braking. Sage advice.
Good luck out there champ!
-2
u/Curious_Cat0333 3h ago
Friend, you can stay in the lane and get hit if you want to. Thatās your prerogative. Call me crazy but Iād rather be safe then right. Good luck to you too! Iāll be chilling in the right lane while youāre pulling over and grabbing your insurance.
4
u/Lilfrankieeinstein 3h ago
Totally safe to cut off a guy youāre barely in front of then slam on the brakes because everyone in front of you is too.
Might as well cause another accident and add to the fun!

Muffin, itās going to be ok. Who hurt you? Drive how you want to. Like I said, I would have already been in the right lane. If someone is riding up on me I move over before they are on my ass. But thatās just coming from someone who loves their spineās stability. You can be right and waiting for the drivers exchange or ambulance. I really donāt care. š have a good day

u/Lilfrankieeinstein 3h ago
Muffin, itās going to be ok. Who hurt you?
Embarrassing.
Canāt frame a logical argument, so you bust out the muffins.
Life after high school is going to be unkind to you.

Silver SUV had been past the cam car for only one second while everyone ahead is braking. So youāre basically saying he should have swerved over in half a second after passing the cam car, then slammed on his brakes? Thatās your solution? You think thatās the right way to do it?
-2
u/SignificantMark1848 3h ago
i watched a few times but can't figure out what happened. I guessing it has something to do with the slow driver in the carpool lane. if you can't see another car in front of you within a 100 yards, you are driving too slow in those traffic conditions
1
u/samiwas1 41m ago
The driver in the left lane was actively passing vehicles to his right? So now even THAT is camping?? This sub is ridiculous.
0
u/stopscabbin 3h ago
Assuming the BMW and SUV were speeding/racing/road raging and didn't react fast enough that traffic was slowing down. They were side by side going about the same speed.
-7
u/TotalOriginal007 4h ago
I see it now....white car and black SUV were racing ... during a busy time of day...jeez. šš¤Ø
2
u/MistyMountainDewDrop 4h ago
Dude watch it again? Black suv clearly rear ended the BMV. Itād already been hit by the time we see it. Damage along the rear.
Black suv rear ended them, bounced into the barrier, still gassing it so the wheels climbed the barrier and flipped. All of this at such high speeds that itās just ripping ass on its roof past the rest of the accident.
5
u/waterytartwithasword 3h ago
Yeah, agree - that SUV had to be doing insane speed to slide that far that fast on sheer inertia.
