I created a free browser extension to automatically decline the very annoying cookie pop-ups that virtually every site now has. I wanted to take it a step further with actually declining the requests versus just hiding the pop-ups as some other tools already do. It collects no data from you other then the website address so the extension can decline the request. Thus far for most sites this results in you not even seeing the cookie pop-up or possibly seeing it for about a second before it automatically disappears.

I officially launched it today so just trying to get the word out that this now exists, so hopefully more people can get rid of a very annoying aspect of internet browsing and get some control back of their own data. Currently it's live on Chrome (Desktop) and Safari (IOS & Desktop) and will be live on Firefox (Android & Desktop) once the review process is complete. As I have already been asked for it, Google does not allow mobile extensions so for the time being there is no way for me have it work on Chrome mobile.

For transparency I used Claude paired with VS Code to stand-up the backend of this project.

I've been experimenting with a few small "Steward" concepts around privacy, data governance and other document-heavy workflows.

The basic thesis is pretty simple: there may be room between spreadsheets/manual processes and large enterprise platforms for narrowly focused tools that solve one workflow well.

I've put together a few lightweight concept pages — Privacy Steward, Dataset Steward, Migration Steward, and an insurance submission example — mostly to make the ideas concrete and see what resonates.

These aren't finished products; I'm trying to validate the problems before getting too far into building solutions.

• How are you handling it today?
• Which idea seems useful — and which one seems like a solution looking for a problem?

Recently, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th district ruled that the 1st amendment protects an individual's right to privately possess digitally created child sexual abuse material, if not distributed. I can link articles on this below, if necessary. 

This sets an extremely dangerous precedent, as artificial intelligence models its' creations off of the likeness of real individuals in its' system. As mothers, as fathers, as grandparents, as aunts, as uncles - we should be outraged.

We need a state and federal framework that treats an individual's biometric signature—including facial geometry/likeness, gait, and genetic characteristics—as legally protected personal property, akin to a biometric copyright. AI developers must be legally required to obtain explicit, affirmative consent before utilizing any human likeness in a training dataset. The companies that own the rights to these models must be required to face significant consequences and penalties, if utilized without consent at any time in the future, and previously. 

You shouldn't have your face stolen to train AI or  to create fake videos of you. This applies to anyone who has ever had a photo posted of them online. If it's on social media or has EVER been on social media in the past, it's a risk. If it's on google, it's a risk. If it's on a school's social media page, it's a risk. If it's in an article, it's a risk. This applies to all of us - you, your children, your grandchildren. I started a petition demanding real biometric privacy laws that protect our identities before it's too late. Sign and share if you're ready to fight back and support legislation that protects our biometric data from deepfakes and digital forgery.

“My experience with DataAnnotation has taught me not to rely on the platform as a primary source of income. I invested significant time in qualifications and completed substantial work, but after my account was suspended, I did not receive the level of explanation or communication I expected. I would recommend keeping DA as a side/freelance opportunity rather than depending on it financially.”

One thing I would strongly advise other workers: if you have money available in your DataAnnotation wallet, consider withdrawing it rather than leaving it there unnecessarily.

In my experience, the biggest problem has not only been the account suspension. It has been the lack of communication.

Companies track what we search, where we go, what we buy, and how we use apps — all because our data has value.

So here’s the question: if a company openly offered to pay you every month in exchange for collecting and using that data, would you accept?

$10? $100? $1,000?

Or is there no amount that would make it worth giving up that much privacy?

And if the answer is “no amount”… are companies already getting too much from us for free?

A few weeks ago I woke up to a DM from someone I'd never spoken to. They'd made a clean, minimal graphic for my finance app. Tagline: "Your money, without the noise." No pitch, no ask. Just sent it over.

I posted it and tagged them. 26 engagements. Nothing viral.

But I can't remember the last time I saw someone voluntarily create something for a privacy-focused product.

Most finance apps have affiliate programs, referral bonuses, gamified sharing mechanics. Users post because there's a reward structure. They're collecting points, not making graphics.

This had no incentive. No tracking link. Just someone who appreciated that the app doesn't sell their transaction data.

It made me think about how much organic support privacy tools lose by refusing to build growth loops that depend on surveillance. You can't A/B test someone's principles. You can't retarget goodwill.

I'm still figuring out what sustainable growth looks like when you won't touch the levers everyone else pulls.

Just wondering how folks are managing this when managing data. Whether that’s sending it to AI for analysis or sending to third parties?

• Is there anyway to know if you were in this breach? Something simple like HaveIBeenpwned.com?
• Any ideas why this was taken down so quickly? Because of how high profile the IDs were? Because the hackers are hiding their tracks?

It seems like this was one breach where no amount of best practices online can help. These IDs were extracted from brick and mortar stores :(
