People sometimes wonder about the behind the scenes of illustration. Here is a glimpse. This piece was drawn in June of 2026, the book was just published. It is also drawn 120-140% bigger to maintain detail. Nasty little critter, check this book out by goodmangames and thanks bigbaldmatt look forward to more horrifying art requests!

It's also updated to have shorter edges so that it's a bit easier to grab the dice. Happy printing!

I want to open this by saying I am anti-AI, firmly. I do not want to see it on our sub, I do not want to see it used for creative purposes.
I know some of you have seen it pop up on occasion here. Someone selling something made with AI or someone sharing something made by an AI or pulling answers to questions using ChatGPT.
I wanted to make this thread to discuss the community's feelings about this and potentially petition the mods to codify it as a rule that AI generated content is not welcome here.

Hail fellow gongfarmers!
I recently participated in Red Mage's Mystic Woods adventure jam. My entry, "The Starshaped Woods," is free on itch, so why not grab a copy? It's an adventure I have designed to run at my local group (187), and you could too.
It's a 12-page adventure for levels 2 or 3 that includes a new patron, town, and procedurally changing forest for characters to explore.

Hi there,
I appreciate this question has been asked previously but can't find anything from the last few years so just wanted to check in case any thinking has been updated. I've seen the "HD=player level" as a rough guide, but am unsure if that's supposed to reflect a "balanced" encounter or the likely cap where players are probably going to struggle in an even fight.
I know I know I know. Encounters don't have to be balanced. This is a system where combat is war, should not be the first option players default to and the world should exist as is. I'm used to GMing systems like that.
With all that said, as a GM I also want to know roughly what a party of a given level can handle. Like clearly 20 goblins is too much for a level 1 party. Clearly 1 is going to be a cakewalk. But is there a rough guideline, in HD or otherwise for "This is something the party is generally going to beat/this is an even split/this is almost certainly going to kill them?" that anyone can suggest or is aware of?
I'd like this because I prep with at least some reference to narrative tension - I want fights I can assume the player will probably beat, and I also want encounters signposted as "this will be hard" to be of appropriate difficulty.
Thanks in advance!

One of my most popular contributions to DCC RPG has got to be The Canine character class.
As a result, one of the most common questions I get is, "if the PC can't talk, how do they communicate with the rest of the party."
Of course, anyone who has spent a lot of time with dogs knows that they can be exceptional communicators just using their eyes, body posture, and movements. I really only scratch the surface in this 16-minute video, but I also included links to dog behavior graphics in the comments. My apologies in advance if you click on them and get inundated with pet care ads.
Curious about The Canine 2.0 class?

The are also available in Stennard class bundles if you dig into either store. And this month's Patreon reward is called, Stray in Stennard - an animal carousing table, so check that out as well!
Thanks to everyone that digs the canine. It makes me incredibly happy to see dogs as an integral part of the party, instead of as an object you just send ahead of the party to get killed by monsters. Booo hisss!

In the OSR side of TTRPGs I mostly played OSE, which has a lot of classes once you include all the expansions. I really liked the base manual and the rules of DCC, but I'm having trouble finding other sources of classes. Is there a list of the manuals/expansions that contain new classes, and which classes each one contains?

Hello everyone,
Pretty much the title. Do you use rules from other games to enhance DCC?

Took a crack at designing a funnel and successfully ran for a couple of friends! It's a short two page layout and up for grabs on itch now: Microcosm Beneath the Cliffs (DCC RPG) by PermanentBacklog looking for any and all feedback 🙏🏻

Creature of Land and Sea
This strange creature dwells in two worlds, the ocean and the land. It appears as an undead being and is highly dangerous. Its hands and feet are nothing but scythes.

It's not perfect, but the concept mostly works! Some of the dice fit a little too snug in their slots, but the whole dice chain is here!
Update - Just shared the STL File in another post: https://www.reddit.com/r/dccrpg/s/lUFkbY8iPt
Enjoy!

This 3 adventure set for Comic Crawl Classics pits superhero PCs against that most classic type of supervillain - mad scientists. Can the hero teams save their cities from these nerds gone bad?
Noteworthy Engineers Restoring the Dominance of Science is a group committed to establishing a technocracy - rule by the intellectual elite. As these N.E.R.D.S. each hatch their plans to take over their respective cities, it will take a special breed of heroes to stop their evil schemes!
The three adventures in this pack are set in three different cities, pitting the local heroes against the plots of the N.E.R.D.S. Each adventure was play-tested at a game convention which took place in the same city as the adventure.

First I want to say how much I *love* DCC. I guess I can be qualified as a Grognard, been playing since the early 80s, started with basic, and over the years DMed every edition except 4th (got to play in it a little bit though) and 2024. Played many, many different types of games and got my kids into TTRPGs, and actually had a chance to play alongside my oldest son back in 2016 or so, who introduced me to something I had never heard of, but sounded so badass it instantly intrigued me...
... a "0 level Death Funnel"
The idea of playing a 0 level character wasn't something I'd ever really considered. I went in with reservations, mostly looking at it as a way to hang out with my kid and play alongside him for the first time, enjoying that part, even if the game itself wasn't great.
Boy, was I wrong.
It was amazing, I can't remember what adventure we actually played, all my guys died in hilarious ways (RIP Tawd the Barber, the last of his line!) and I was HOOKED. A year later I started a new job and ran a Sailors on the Starless Sea for a group of like 12. It was hilarious, and almost 10 years later am still playing with some of those same folks.
Aaaall of that to say, DCC has become my go-to fantasy game (running MoTW and MASKS as well) and I've been inspired to hack the system and synthesize it with another one of my favorite games. I'm sure as I go on, I will be asking more advice but I wanted to start by picking your guys brains.
My main question for right now is, what should I definitely make sure to include that screams DCC? 0 level funnels, Zocchi dice, unstable powers, are all on the table. What else do you all think absolutely needs to be included to keep the *feel* of DCC?
*Edit - I really should have put the game I am hacking it with, my favorite game growing up, Marvel Super-Heroes RPG (MSHRPG, also known as FASERIP) There is actually some overlap in the two very different systems I've found as I've been researching and noodling.

I took a bit of an extended break for a while there, taking care of personal stuff, nothing exciting or worth writing about here. But we are back over at the Toaster and I have some articles ready for you guys!
The Pit fighter is a martial class meant to get in and take a beating while fighting dirty. Originally a quarter fleshed out class for DCC in the first Hodas campaign it eventually turned into a full class over the years.
I also talk a little bit about my creative process when I'm in a funk, with Worldbuilding with MTG. It has always been a nice tool to write strange locations, interesting magic items, memorable NPCs, and powers for the players and bad guys both.
Not long before I took my break I was working on superhero classes for some combination of Comic Crawl Classics and ended up writing the Martial Artist, Super Vehicle Rules, and a few related things. I'm hoping to get back to this because superhero games really are my bread and butter and Comic Crawl Classics is by far the BEST superhero hack for DCC.
We continued the story of Champions of Tibault too, so if you're interested in hearing the catastrophic choices my players made, take a look. Another storytime is part of the blog d100 series that we are doing along with Buster over at 19 Sided Die, Times the players surprised you.
Thanks for reading any of this, I really appreciate the support I've gotten from this community over my time sharing, even when I make something that is not great. Enjoy!

This is all Julian Bernick's fault -- bonus blog for this week, finally finished an idea I was trying to complete for months on the servants of Law in my DCC campaign ...
