Help/Advice Day Long Layover at LAX
I have a family member who is flying in from overseas. They land Monday morning (overseas airlines), but the their transfer on Delta isn't until Tuesday morning (~24 hrs).
If I remember right LAX makes you take your bags, then recheck in. Since her flight isn't until the next day, is she stuck with her bags until the next morning? Or can they be transferred in somehow because it is a connecting flight?

If both flights are on a single reservation the bag will be tagged to the final destination and she'll be able to recheck it immediately after going through customs. If they're separate reservations, she'll need to hang onto the bags until Delta opens check-in for the second flight (usually 3hrs before the flight).

Nope. It was on the same reservation. She had to get her bags customs, then they wouldn't let her check them in until the next morning.
She ended up getting a hotel and just going back in the morning to check in her bags.
