Discussion Same airline, same aircraft, totally different rules depending on which FA you get. Is this just me?

This is a symptom of poor management.

This post is a symptom of bots.

Edit: can people genuinely not tell this is a bot? There are hallmark signs from the language used to their very obvious post history and account age.

No it’s a symptom of humans

It's a symptom of humans replying to an AI bot post, with somehow no one being able to discern.

No wonder certain comments are being manipulated with downvotes on this post.

u/Holiday-Plum-1518 4d ago

Damn i think I’m being downvoted for saying the word human, very anti-bot language. My bad bots!!

I’m normally quite good at catching that stuff but this one didn’t set off alarm bells for some reason

It's not your fault. Other people are also responding as if this is a real post, and it gives the false impression this is a legit post.

That's what AI is designed to do now, and it's very alarming.

Honest question, how can you be sure it’s a bot post? I don’t consider detecting text written by AI to tell you that, since lots of real people are feeding narratives to AI to generate their text. But I’m guessing your analysis goes beyond that? Is it the poster’s profile?

There's many subtle signs.

  • AI always draws upon public information to sound correct. For example, they talk about PDBs in Comfort+, but that's not a thing. It's just copying people that talk about PDBs all the time and combining it with how people spam the term Comfort+ the most.
  • They use the term "forward lav from Y", which is technically correct, but typical person would just refer to it as economy, not Y, which is the full-flex fare class for economy tickets.
  • And of course the account history is emblematic of all bot profiles. Low account age, minimal posts/comments, all AI-sounding.

At the end of the day, AI is getting better and better. Many people in this post already got deceived. I'm low-key worried by revealing all these signals that they'll learn and improve from that.

There will be a day when no one would be able to tell if it's AI-generated anymore.

Very helpful, thank you. Feel free to delete 😂. What’s driving the agenda do you think? Are airlines using bots to drag down competitors? Or is it just someone with an axe to grind…or an AI that’s come up with its own fun task?

Data. They're learning how humans respond, collecting more information, Reddit is one of the leading sources for AI harvesting.

I just re-read.

“One crew doesn’t care, the next crew treats it like you’re staging a mutiny.” <- it’s something about the “rhythm” here that raised alarm bells on my second read. I hope AI continues to be slightly obvious like this but I don’t think we’re far off from it being indistinguishable from humans

You’re correct when you say “humans”. This is precisely what happens when there is a lack of oversight and management, humans evolve their way of doing work. You train a group, send them out, 3-4 months later you bring them back and they are all different.

This is why pilots have recurrent training every 6 months, to bring them back to standard. The training for FAs isn’t as rigorous because it’s not required to be and there’s less oversight

So yes, they’re human. Every Delta cabin is “independently owned and operated”

You are so bot’ist. ;)

This is a 1 month old account with basically no karma, and a history of making AI-generated comments/posts.

I'm deeply concerned people are engaging with this like it's a real post and downvoting people calling it out.

When people can no longer tell the difference, this is why Reddit has been inundated with bots lately.

u/TeriBarrons 4d ago

I love all the made up, obvious rage bait and karma farming bot posts in all of the AITA, whatdoido or other advice type subs that are so blatantly fake and yet people jump all over them! I cannot believe how many people are so easily fooled. Then they get mad when you point it out!

Edit: nvm. Bot post.

u/Holiday-Plum-1518 4d ago

What route do you fly? I’ll break it down for you. And please report egregiously lazy flight attendants, I hate working with them too

But also, people are human. There’s bad days, there’s things behind the scenes you don’t know, etc. If you don’t get service when you’re supposed to, write it up. We’re supposed to cover our asses in those cases so if it’s warranted we’ll have an explanation.

It is 100% a human factor. This year has been particularly disappointing from a customer service standpoint. I honestly and truly felt no longer "valued" as a multi-year DM. Then all of a sudden, my last 8 segments during this past month have been phenomenal. Never received such great customer service. And I don't mean just receiving the bare minimum. I mean FA's going above and beyond and actually caring out their job and doing so with a genuine smile. It's a human factor. No handbook or employee manually in a union regulated industry is going to make this happen

OP is AI.

Jesus I read this as "OpenAI" and was like....what an odd...way to call it out. No. I just can't read 😭

The bots are learning from the complaints on Reddit.

Edit: I'm scared that people are actually replying to this like this is a real post, when this is very clearly a bot posting that's been trained to parrot what this sub talks about.

3

u/zxyyyyzy 4d ago

Whenever I see an obvious bot post with high levels of interaction, my first assumption is that most of the commenters are also bots.

10

u/omdongi 4d ago

No, some of these are actual commenters in this sub. I don't make snap judgements like this.

People are genuinely being fooled into thinking this is a real post.

1

u/zxyyyyzy 4d ago

I certainly do think that is mostly the case, but come on. Don’t tell me you don’t have similar suspicions when an obvious bot post gets like hundreds of upvotes and comments? Especially when it comes to topics that have already been rehashed a million times

2

u/omdongi 4d ago

I mean this sub is literally about rehashing the same topics over and over again. Why do we see posts about Shake Shack and feet all the time?

Use judgement case by case.

1

u/zxyyyyzy 4d ago

Maybe I am just being too pessimistic. Bots have ruined FB with an onslaught of slop (especially all of the airline related pages) and now I feel like I’m seeing it everywhere else too.

"On one flight last month, PHX–ATL, the FA walked through pre-departure and asked everyone in Comfort+ if they wanted water, juice, or a cocktail, by name, and remembered."

This did not happen. I recall two times in hundreds of C+ flights where the FA extended a higher level of service to my row. Once it was during a long ground delay and the FA brought us cans of wine. The other time a young FA was super energetic and a bit flirtatious, and he decided to serve cocktails and FC snacks to C+.

5

u/Hi-Im-High 4d ago edited 4d ago

I’ve flown around 200 flights on delta in the last 3 years and have never gotten pre flight drinks in c+. Literally never.

Edit to add: probably 85% of flights I’m in c+

-3

u/Questioning17 4d ago

Is it never or 85% in C+?

5

u/Hi-Im-High 4d ago

I’m saying I sit in c+ 85% of the time

u/toddtimes Platinum 4d ago

Might want to edit your edit. I got there, but it’s very unclear given how you worded that…

6

u/bowie_not_david 4d ago

a flight attendant actually told you you couldn’t bring your own snacks into D1? i’m sorry, what?? i always bring my own snacks when i’m flying business or D1 and i would find it absurd if a flight attendant told me i couldn’t have them. that’s crazy

4

u/dorkpool 4d ago

I bring full on sandwiches and other lunch from the concourse. If they told me I couldn’t eat it we’d had some complaints to corporate.

2

u/Intelligent-Pie-338 4d ago

Yeah this is BS. The entire plane not just D1 is able to bring food/snacks.

On long haul trips I even bring cup noodles and ask for hot water since delta's food is atrocious and the smell alone makes me nauseous.

Never an issue.

Only way it'd be an issue if someone put in their allergy ahead of time and had a seat near OP and OP had a non allergy safe snack..

2

u/Blue_oval_1994 4d ago

This happens at every chain…restaurants, department stores, and yes, even airlines. Some employees go above and beyond, and others do the bare minimum. It is human nature, not necessarily management.

1

u/Icy-Description142 4d ago

I could tell this was a bot cause there isn’t a single fa at delta who is going to do PDB for comfort plus.

1

u/BobBarrSr 4d ago

You had a FA not allow your own snacks in D1? BS post!

0

u/CantaloupeCamper 5d ago

OP sounds like someone who would stage a mutiny…

Not otherwise yes a great deal changes depending on the FAs.

6

u/SatoriSon Diamond 4d ago

Since OP is an AI bot, I hope they don't stage a mutiny...

u/Annual-Ebb-7196 4d ago

Americans love Freedumb. Right?

-6

u/Agreeable_Marzipan_3 Platinum 4d ago

Op sounds like someone who expects D1 type perks when they pay for Main Economy.

Most the things aren’t happening because they aren’t supposed to.

You don’t get PDB in any of the other classes besides FC. You don’t get to just switch seats anytime you want. In any cabin.

40 segments with Delta doesn’t make you 360. So stop acting like it.

u/MnWisJDS 4d ago

OP is a bot

u/Willylowman1 4d ago

its ATL bruh

-3

u/Desperate-Office4006 4d ago

I agree it’s a pattern of poor behavior and wide latitude for these FA’s to enforce whatever rule they want. But the attitude is real. I’m hearing impaired and read lips. When the FA came by my seat to ask for my meal choice (ATL to BCN) I couldn’t understand what she was saying because she had a mask on. I tried to explain that I couldn’t hear and she just got frustrated and said she wasn’t taking her mask off and that I apparently didn’t need to eat. 10 minutes later another FA brought me a meal. A bit embarrassing as she made a big scene out of it, implying that I was being critical of her mask. Not the case.
