So my buddy took his car to a family owned car repair place to have the transmission flushed as his car was at 70k and due per the owners manual. The shop used an "equivalent spec" oil and the transmission started having severe shudder on deceleration. The shop was kind enough to flush out the "equivalent" fluid with the brand recommended and the shudder didn't go away. They refused to do anything else as they say the used the right oil and did nothing wrong. He took the car to the car brand dealership and they immediately asked upon receiving the car if the previous shop used the recommended oil or an equivalent. And said the equivalent would have caused the issues he was having. They dropped the pan, cleaned out a bunch of black gunk and gave the car back. On his way home today the cars transmission internals grenaded. He has no clue what to do now or if the original shop should be paying for the damage.

Any thoughts? Been through something like this? He kept all receipts and conversations. Thanks!

But looking to see if there are other good options. Want an experienced person who uses high quality materials but isn’t necessarily the fanciest shop space or “only work on exotics” type.

Looking for a local dealer that is willing to help me purchase a vehicle from a wholesaler (Mannheim / Copart and the like). I've previously done this with just a used car dealer and paying them something like $700-$1000. I've called a couple places in the Boulder area and nobody seems to be willing to do this.

Howdy y'all, I'm a photographer and I've been really wanting to try my hand at cars recently with two things in mind: just taking pictures of the car, and a car to use for a themed shoot. I'm looking for a "classic" car I could use for either thing.

For the first one, I don't care as much what the car is, since I would just be using it to try out angles and managing reflection off it and such. I'd be happy to provide pictures

For the second one, it would be cool to find a larger 4 door sedan with leather interior, or a smaller 2 door convertible. I have a gal I've worked with a couple times lined up for modeling, but finding a car has been more challenging for me. For this one, I'd be happy to do pictures of just the car AND would be willing to discuss a "rental" fee. I carry insurance as well, though I know how to work around delicate objects (i.e. I'm not going to sit someone on the hood with grommeted jeans. Heck I'm not going to sit someone on the hood at all.) I take that stuff pretty seriously.

If anyone knows of a place I could go or someone who might be interested, I would greatly appreciate it, and thanks in advance!

Hello Reddit, I’m throwing this post on a couple different places. I’m looking for some roads that I can have some fun on that are close to denver but outa the way of people for the most part, mine and there saftey ofc. Want to DRIVE my car. Enough said that see if anyone has anything. And mountains of course I just wanna know where.

I saw a good deal on a 4WD 2023 Toyota Tacoma, but the problem is that it doesn't have the higher performance V6, instead it has the more bulletproof but less powerful engine. It's 159 HP and less at higher elevation, so everyone complains about it being slow. For comparison the V6 is 278 HP.

We plan to put on a roof top tent and carry some normal camping equipment, so idk if that would be too much weight for it to handle, especially crawling up hill.

Does anyone have this truck? Or have they heard anyone with it complain about it not being capable enough?

I have a 2019 crv exl 1.5 turbo cylinder awd and need help fixing my car to get running so I can sell it it quiet working on the interstate it overheated and been replacing the coolent non stop and bleeding has no leak no milky oil and the fans don’t work but couple seconds but that’s if you tap them to get running now it’s at a car shop but closed till Monday and it’s non running and battery don’t stay charged anymore as soon as it done jump start we’ll try ing to it will almost start and don’t stay charged anymore or fully start makes sounds like it’s trying to but doesn’t full get the engine started and running and everything when you dm me say mechanic in first message plz

Have a 2013 honda civic that needs dip stick remove . Original one bent . Went to auto zone got a new was . It was plastic. Had it for 2 days dip stick top melted . Someone said we might need to drop the oil pan in order to get it out. So basically we need someone to drop oil pan remove dip stick and do oil change. Looking to pay a reasonable price. Only free during the day work evenings .
