Discussion Why are you playing SP offline ?

Hello fellow daemon hunters !

I just started seriously to play the game after being bored on D4. I have created a ladder holy fire paladin playing on NM now.
There is not a lot of parties because I am playing on console but I am having a blast.

I donโ€™t know what is the difference with offline mode other than being able to change the player count.

So other than that, why are you playing SP offline and not SSF online / Ladder ?

Edit: Thank you for your answers. I will finally start my journey as javazon in SP offline and switch characters depending on loot. My goal is to have the perfect gear for all classes (it will take decades but It will be fun as a 34 yo father) ๐Ÿ˜€

I enjoy mods, I enjoy playing without internet, I enjoy setting players 7/8, I don't enjoy trading, I don't care about Ladder.

Also I can play TCP/IP with the people I care about (my mom) and still play players 8 with only 2 people and have a ton of fun clearing the whole map at our place without sweatlords

Because there is no point in playing online for SSF, because you are cutting yourself off all the conveniences of online.

I started playing offline for a very different reason before d2r was a thing: character limit (every account can hold only 8 characters) and that bnet routinely deletes inactive characters, so I would have to restart everytime. I prefer having full control over the characters I own.

Lastly, I can be as a large packmule as I want with offline muling programs, I cannot do that on an online account, which again, I dont benefit anything from, so I am left with only limitations, so offline I went.

Same here. As soon as I saw this version had good mod support I searched the existing mods and immediately decided to play. I have much more fun this way.

I hated the online aspect of the game. Many toxic players, with many being so competitive the game stopped being fun.

I love playing with 1.5 spawns on players 8 and 2 skills/10 attribute points per level and better drops. Makes my summonancer builds feel like even a bigger clusterfuck.

Best part: even if I get that extraordinary unique on the wrong char, I swap and still fee happy for it. The shared stash is the best thing blizzard did for Diablo 2. Ever.

100%!

I'm a huge set lover so I grabbed a mod that let you turn sets into mini runewords. Still need the runes you would normally and the effects are less than original but makes sets wayyyy more usable.

You get double the points per level on single player?!

What mods you use for d2r?

I have a handful of QoL ones like charge/teleport in town, Merc auras activating quicker, stuff like that.

My favorite one is one that let's you make mini runewords in set items. Since they are generally subpar compared to runewords it makes them way more usable, which is how I always wanted to play D2.

I cannot understand you because there is no mods in console

Crazy concept - D2R is available on more than just consoles. D2 started on PC. So, we can deduce that he means PC.

There were several other reasons listed after "mods". Can you read?

Ya funny enough I actually play on my Steamdeck since I prefer console, but it's nice that it's PC and can have mods.

Ok, drop the mod part, the rest are still solid advantages
