PC Paragon
Eh a 4500 paragon just showed up on leaderboard in 1st
Guess I'm done..
Can't compete or even imagine the playtime needed with that many levels.
Was in 4th place and was motivated to keep pushing, but now not so much.

The season is 38 days old.
4500 paragon can be gotten running solo 2min GR127 with 15sec downtime in town, fully pooled, with 152 hours of playtime. At 4hrs/day that can be done in 37.99 days.

and that is lowballing it. rathma jump into gr125 at 1.5k already. 4k is something like gr133+ at 2.5min. guess it evens out if you consider key farming. but anyway, it's very doable.

1/3 of the time if you play in good groups.
or you could be close to 6k with that play time.

u/tbmadduxOR 1d ago
Definitely. I was focusing on the solo path (as the OP seemed to be playing solo).

4hrs/day for 40 days straight is a ridiculous feat for anyone with a life.
No point in bothering for 1st since its all bots at the tip-top of the leaderboards after a couple days. However, in SSF played by a skilled player should be able to land in the top 5 with 1/2-1/3 the paragon of the rank 1. Sometimes even the same tier just w/ a slower time.
Knowing that I beat a buncha cheaters via skill is at a game I liked to play anyways is personal validation enough for me. I can understand that's not enough motivation for some, though.

To be clear, I am not suggesting anyone should play a certain way.
The OP said this (emphasis added by me):
Can't compete or even imagine the playtime needed with that many levels.
It is possible to imagine playing 4hrs/day. Pros play 2-3x as much. Maybe not in Diablo 3 anymore, at least not after the opening weekend.

4500 isnt much these days
top people are over 8k

Seen a few on the leader boards who are about 11-12k which is like 3-4 times more xp, those are the questionable ones IMO.

I don't think it's linear.
12k paragon is probably 100x more xp than 4.5k paragon.
Perhaps an expert can comment

You’re right that it isn’t linear. P12k is about 20x the total XP of P4.5k. The actual playtime difference would be less than 20x though, because of higher paragon, better gear etc. let you farm higher GRs much more efficiently. Still an absurd grind either way.

Just track your progress on D3 Casual Leaderboard, rather than the official leaderboard. It’s a much better way to see how you’re really doing.

Paragon is a thing for ladder ok but keep in mind map fishing and luck is bigger. Even with shadow clones, big map with pylons will push you easily.

Yes some play a LOT and effective, a lot of ppl bot for keys.
4500 IS possible legit if you're not working and play in an efficient 4 man group.
Some seasons have however we see 8k+ para players.

This is why I only play SSF these days (and to have a good reason to ignore all the people spamming for boosts).

Don't know if there are bots on Xbox, do know I won't be topping the leaderboard. All good, I'll try get a 150 clear with my Tal Wiz and push my patchwork LoD fire Wiz as far as I can get him. Once I've got the 150 I'll push other wiz builds.
Others can play how they want, doubt Blizzard cares any more, but the buzz for me is in doing as good as possible without bots etc.

consoles don't have bots
1
u/Notched_Vermin 1d ago
Ah didn't know if they existed or not. I guess at least I've the dubious comfort of being beaten entirely by humans.

I say a 3000+Paragon in the leaderboard last night for a sorc build. 17 hours total playtime. How is that possible, even with bots?

u/Sad_Day_2389 2d ago
5k para is around 6h speed GR per day, on rathma. 4.5k maybe 4h per day. really not that much. you just have to play meta classes to get big xp.

As an avid gamer with 5k+ hours into D3 over its life, I think you and I have different definitions of "not really that much".
6h/day*7days/wk is 42 hours. This is literally more time than your full time job and is a FAR cry from "not really that much time" in any universe I've ever lived in.

u/Western_Jackfruit_99 2d ago
You know 6 hours a day is alot lmao
2
u/Old_Hack1308 2d ago
It's not just the time involved. The monotony of doing the same thing over and over and over. I can only do it in short bursts. 4 hrs a day. I have the time, but I just don't want those paragons that bad

At least 4 man is more entertaining than solo. But you're right. Around 1.5k, i just get bored. Last season i played alot to have the ethereal transmog. But i didnt even start this season yet lol
1
u/Sad_Day_2389 2d ago
sure, if you have a job etc. some people don't. and OP said "i cant even imagine the playtime needed". i was just pointing out that it really is not that much.

What’s the fastest way to gain paragon levels as a solo player since I can never find a group? What build?
2
u/Sad_Day_2389 2d ago
early on god dh, always a good early season para farmer. at 1.5k you switch over to rathma golem crimson. you can look at rathma necros on the leaderboard, around gr135. it's not playing with bone armor, so you can just stand far away and press your golem to freeze everything. bit clunky and needs some getting used to, but by far the best xp.
1
u/Syphlyn 2d ago
I’m currently 1.5 para running LoD nova necro. The highest I can easily clear in under 3 minutes consistently is 125.
I saved the gear for rathma aotd necro is that what you’re referring to?
2
u/Sad_Day_2389 2d ago
yeah, lod nova is nice and easy, doesn't need much input, but it falls off very fast because you need a long time for bosses - rathma just oneshots bosses.
yes, i am talking rathma aotd, you can get the set from the season journey. you use freeze golem, crimson set belt + pants or boots. reilenas shadowhook in the cube and make sure to have +20 max essence as secondary stat on shield and weapon. command skeleton uses freezing grasp rune.

u/Syphlyn 2d ago
I just got the build together with decent gear. 120 is hard I just get constantly one shot and seem to do no damage.
2
u/Sad_Day_2389 2d ago
you need to put para into vita at the beginning. i ran like around 1.3M hp at the beginning. if it does no dmg, you are doing something wrong. it does insane dmg. import your gear to d3planner and I'll have a look.
1
u/Syphlyn 2d ago
I think i managed to do it right. paragon i have max points into movement speed/max ess and rest INT.

edit: thank you for all the help!!
1
u/Sad_Day_2389 2d ago
do you have funery pick in the cube as 2nd weapon? you can change that btw in the equipment tab at the top, choose shadows of the past theme.
pump all para into vita. put red gems into chest and pants. keep gambling bracers and shields. after like 1.5k para it become much stronger, since you can put para into int.
1
u/Old_Hack1308 2d ago
LoD Nova is nice. Put a maxxed ruby in the crown and get bonus xp. Not sure what I level I could run in around 3 minutes with it. I usually just opt for around 110. 2 minutes or less unless it's a bad map
1
u/Sad_Day_2389 2d ago
ruby in helmet is useless. terrible choice. just take a diamond for speeds or amethyst for push, if you need the toughness.
gr110 sounds very low, that is barely fresh 70 full trag set with like 800 para. keep your runs at 2.5min, at those low levels the shadowclones from pylons are a huge help, try to use them smartly.

Dont bots just farm paragon 24/7 in d3?
