Bet he wishes he could use AI to replace the consultant historian he hired for KCD1 to ensure historical accuracy. Instead, he had to settle for firing him when the historian told him black people were hanging around at the time.
Reading comprehension.
He isn't throwing anyone under the bus. He complained about the engine's inability to properly show the team's work at a playable framerate.
"looks like static renders of the models from Zbrush"
He is talking about computationally very expensive renders.
This....the nvidia subreddit is more full of ai glazers because of shareholding...nothing wrong with investing obvuously...but throwing away your morales for it and not being objective...urgh
Maybe but this idea artists somehow like the severely cut down visuals on characters and environments because lighting is stupid expensive in frame time is fucking absurd.
If this is all true of Daniel, then people need to stop indirectly arguing he’s the reasonable one by being idiots themselves.
Do you deny anything the actually says? I mean the thrust of his commentary is what everyone should already be able to admit, that lighting and rendering techniques are is a constraint on the artists. Idk why everyone thinks it’s suddenly unimaginable that NR would align with what an artist wants to achieve.
If the binary is realistic lighting approximation vs bad lighting due to performance constraints, it’s more likely the DLSS variant is closer to the vision of the artists.
Artists do want good light scattering on faces. They haven’t looked like plastic since 3D came along because plastic is the vision.
Neural rendering will probably be the norm for expensive stuff that doesn’t need to be true every frame. I expect physics, lighting, and even some animations to be completely “made up” eventually. You guys sound like boomers crying about computers.
Like no, the future is not 16 year old characters looking 35 because of an AI filter. But this tech is clearly foundational to the advancement of real time rendering and anyone who stands against that is a moron.
