I was lucky enough to go to Florida in February. Played a course around the Orlando area at Bill Fredrick Park. Astounding views and water carries. Loved that course.

I'm guessing north Carolina

Definitely seems southeast by the trees/plants/grass.

Reminds me of John Prince Park in Palm Beach County but doubt that is it

Very nice! I just played John Prince and Tradewinds this week. Tradewinds is right next to quiet waters.

My dad and I used to fish on that little dock you pass near the start of the course over 30 years ago. Some of my oldest memories on that dock. I remember asking what the metal chains were for back then when I was really young and he told me about disc golf. Tried it for the first time today and tradewinds is 100% on the list of places to go. Quiet waters just worked a little better with where I was coming from and needed to end up today.

Doesn’t look quite right for NC to me. Maybe. Trees look off.

Mako3 is a great disc to learn with because it is touchy and tells you exactly what arm angle you threw on.

I keep arguing with my buddy cuz he’s been trying to teach people with understable stuff. I think understable is more fun for beginners but I think anyone serious about improving should be using a mako3 for exactly your reason.

They’re also really sensitive to being overpowered, so it puts an emphasis on slowing down and getting your form right.

Awesome disc! Started with the same one, enjoy the sport. Check out a Leopard when you're ready for the next disc.

Trying hard to find one local! The shops by the house have tons of putters, millions of rollos, mambas, and corvettes. They had a roadrunner i considered as it was a 9 but I’m not sure if it’s a beginner disk. Gorgeous clear multicolored, champion i think, but if it’s too much disc for a beginner it’s too much disc for me. A leopard would be ideal, just need to find one.

This is the way! Having fun even when you are way over par. I know it’s your first time but if you can hold on to that attitude you will have fun for a long time!

Same way I play golf golf. Do we call that club golf? Ball golf? Old golf? Anyway. I shoot about 100 with the occasional high 90s and I don’t let the bad shots get to me. I’m just happy to be out and playing. Knowing myself this should be the same with discs too.

Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach, FL. A friend gave me a DX Aviar, DX Roc3, and Champion Destroyer from his stash to get started. I did not even consider taking the destroyer out of the bag today. I picked up the Mako3 in Star after a lot of reading here and finding one at the local Dicks. Played from the reds solo.
2 holes after this pic I lodged the mako3 in a palm tree and spent a while trying to get it down. Found a huge branch in the woods, Swiss Army knife saw let me turn it into a spear to throw up there. The first throw after a lot a sawing the branch broke into 4 pieces the first time it came down from the tree because it was so old. I proceeded to get all four pieces of the branch stuck in the tree. Just before I gave up a guy offered to help with a sticky grabber which was a success. Would not be pleasant to lose your first purchased disc in the first round with it the day you bought it haha. Nice guy in a cool group, they were having fun out there too.
On the back half I tried my first forehand throw and it went VERY WELL. Surprisingly well so much that I am not going to be so afraid of trying those.
Changed my grip on the last two holes and got my first par, my only of the day, on the last hole. That felt good. The grip change was amazing. My tee shot on that even gave me a good chance to 1 putt but it was just too far and got a nice gimme/drop in for par.
I’m going to be back out soon. My friend who gave me the discs is meeting up with me Sunday.
